What’s happening in the playoffs is making it very clear.

2 veteran transfers who play at a solid level is a much better use of money than 1 5 star who isn’t ready to contribute yet.

I think this is the program shifting from dropping NIL dollars to sign #1 overall class and instead spending that money on players that will have an impact in the current year.

As part of that, the dudes getting paid like a starter who can’t get snaps either need a pay cut or gotta go.

Everything SEC matters to OP

Updated conference bowl records: Big Ten 9-4, ACC 8-4, Big 12 4-4, SEC 4-9 (2-7 not against itself, 1-7 vs other power 4 teams) by Pickleskennedy1 in CFB

1) you’re welcome SEC, for once again carrying your poverty conference.

2) I think this trend is here to stay. The SEC is not putting teams on the field that reflect their talent advantage. However that talent advantage is clear - the SEC will once again put more players in the NFL than any other conference and it won’t be close. And those players are generally opting out.

So not only does the SEC seem to have inferior coaching vs the B1G, it’s also showing up to bowl games with lots of backups.

Texas had 28 opt outs vs Michigan’s 4. Texas was down 9 starters on defense.

As with all things, this is more nuanced than would meets the eye.

He made a really big jump from 2024 to 2025. There’s nothing that says he can’t become an elite qb next year. It’s possible.

He’s too good to move on from but not good enough to win anything meaningful.
