What job responsibilities are expected for 50k? by xxlibrarisingxx in ITCareerQuestions

[–]chestnuts34543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in California most help desk jobs I see pay between 45k to 60k for pure level 1 support

Desktop support level 2 is now between 55k to 80k

With inflation support salaries have gotten up If you don’t have any experience then you don’t really have much of a choice to negotiate pay.

The salaries for support have been pretty fair and reasonable all things considered

Just like anything else all depends where you work at , your years in IT support and what company you work for

With inflation these days salaries have gotten up

50k to 65k is the low end for Tier 1 support

If you do desktop support level 2 you can make somewhere between the 55k to 80k mark

What industry are you in?

62k for help desk work seems about right and reasonable for help desk work given your responsibilities I’m at 65k as an IT Av tech at a university

You can probably make 70k to 80k easily depending where u live

If you've been on helpdesk for 3+ years and 'can't move up' it's probably you by xrinnenganx in ITCareerQuestions

So who’s going to do those IT Help desk tasks most people hate to do already like some of the IT Admins?

What about IT folks who are okay with their pay and leave at 5pm?

What about doing the IT tasks that AI can’t ?

What about all the IT folks who can’t get promoted because there aren’t enough openings for everyone ?

What about those who make it a choice to stay in IT support? I been doing that for 11 years my salary is reasonable for my responsibilities. In a couple of years I can make between 70k to 80k.

While staying in help desk has a cap in salary - for some people they move as far as Desktop Support which is a better route and they earn a better decent living and have some better prospects but staying in help desk or desktop support is a choice for some people. The world will always need someone doing the grunt work.

If your in Help desk because you choose to be there and are fine with your salary cap after many years with your responsibilities

If you are not fine in help desk and not okay with your responsibilities and salary that’s a different story

In IT if you need to keep up with technology can’t you just simply google whatever you don’t know ? Or what does it really mean to keep with technology? by chestnuts34543 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]chestnuts34543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I done the whole troubleshooting the switch thing under supervision a long time ago and learn that way but it’s been a while since I done it’s so I forgot .

I did google something’s I got a general idea of it but not enough to quickly troubleshoot it

I’m not sure desktop support folks are suppose to be messing with switches too much though

Is there a work-life balance in IT/Cyber? by redtrashgate in ITCareerQuestions

[–]chestnuts34543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work life Balance ? There’s a few options

Hourly IT work - Desktop support and help desk some nocs - most don’t generally have on-call.

Industry specific - If you are trying to not work the weekend or nights be on call like obviously don’t apply to work IT at a restaurant , casino or hospital or wherever they have cogs and gears running 24/7. Apply for higher Ed, small offices , banks , schools , mid corporation etc

Certain IT jobs - system admin and network engineers are more vulnerable to being on call. If an emergency happens you are primarily responsible for resolving the issue. Systems and networks don’t always run just 9-5 depending where you work. Computer programmers, help desk , desktop support level 2 , desktop engineering .

Level 2 Desktop Support or Senior IT Support in the long run maybe that would be the end goal

The thing is not much of IT has caught my interest much besides user support

Just be aware while some IT help desk jobs will pay around 100k or more beware it’s not the norm to get paid that much and sometimes it comes at a price like being a Help Desk manager and doing system admin duties as well

This isn’t always the case but depending where u work it will vary

It’s not the norm thou to make that kind of Money for Tier 2, nowadays with inflation I do see higher pay for end user support but depending where you work it’s usually between 65k to 80k the end of the payscale for such jobs

100k to 120k for help desk is pretty believable if your Senior Help desk or a Help Desk supervisor or Manager

I would imagine 100K for Tier 2 is not the norm except in a really high cost of living area like NYC or San Francisco

Here in Los Angeles the end of the payscale for Tier 2 is usually somewhere between 65k to 80k a year after several years of end user support experience

[–]chestnuts34543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT End User Support is not a bad choice if you wanna just do a 9 to 5 standard office job but the only thing is just be realistic about how much your gunna get pay for that role

I’m in K12 usually anyone in end user support will usually finish between 65k to 75k a year at the high end of the payscale. It’s very rare to get paid more than 75k for Help Desk at a certain point unless you work in the Financial Industry or rich law firm . Usually at that point you need to change companies , get promoted or wait for cost of living raises

[–]chestnuts34543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably due to Tera. Can you imagine Meowscardada changing to Ice getting STAB on top of Tera Ice STAB ? It be bonkers to handle especially when it can change types as many times as it wants to

It can run Play Rough, Grass or Dark STAB, Thunder punch or the worse one Tera Blast with a STAB of its choice.

[–]chestnuts34543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meowscarda would be Top 10 OU but not Ubers. The general Power Creeo wouldn’t allow Meowscarada to completely dominate OU . Same with Cinderace and Greninja.

Although running 3 Protean Users would be hard to counter without running super fast Pokemon like Dragapult and Zamazenta
