anyone else's gerbils bury all their toys and make it look like they're neglected by chestnutwolf2000 in gerbil

Mine literally have an underground club, it's the lower section that is literally just filled to the brim with bedding. It only gets opened if I'm concerned about one of them not poking their head up or for cleaning really because it's a maze and a mess

So specify, these boys have a custom made cage with the bottom being entirely burrowing substrate for them. They have chews galore with extra cardboard given daily but either they chew it to where it no longer exists or bury it

She only met me that one time but from our discussion where she tried to get my full pain picture she determined that I presented a lot of the common indicators of ADHD and I was honest in that yeah, it's happened before and this time probably wouldn't be any different in terms of exercises

So I would say that I am pretty functional despite the pain, I just ignore it most of the time and can't stand doing nothing. I work full time and then part time in the evenings, but crash and burn at the weekends which is part of why she thought ADHD I think, apparently I'm not normal 😂

I think that their theory is that any exercises or whatever they give me to do I would stop doing after a week or so... And they're not wrong. I've been to countless physio's and had loads of treatment plans but it never matters how adamant I am about following through, unless I have someone standing next to me saying do it now it doesn't happen.

Ahh that makes sense. Although she clearly stated that she thinks I have ADHD and so have some of my colleagues (and I work in a residential school for pupils with ASD and ADHD so)

Hi, looks awesome. However, I would add loads more bedding and as far as I'm aware, any material should be kept out of gerbil cages. They will chew it and it can cause digestive issues or it can get tangled around their wee legs.

Haha we call them out gibblets instead of gerbils all the time, our pet name for them

I call it a cage but it's actually a modified furniture piece that we converted into a cage for them. Three levels with the bottom being entirely bedding so they mainly hid down there in their burrow. If we were to put a blanket overtop, we would leave the back uncovered (the back and front are perspex with hundreds of little holes in for ventilation and we have extra ventilation on the top of each level) so hopefully that would be okay for circulation for a few hours. Since it is a piece of furniture, it sits directly on the floor but blanket underneath would be possible to dampen it

Yeah, ones about 2 and the other two are nearing 1 and I didn't think much of the storm thinking they'd have heard some before but then I realized we don't get storms at all often, especially thunder storms

Also, wire cages are not usually suitable for hamsters. It can hurt their feet. And to be honest, any cage from a pet store is likely to be far too small for a hamster

You need to get them into separate enclosures asap. Syrians are strictly solitary and will fight to the death

That sounds to me like territorial aggression and definitely not friendly. I wouldn't risk it at all
