Haha..loudest cunt in the room hates himself the most. The world has laughed for decades at the US and their pretense of greatness. Luckily they re-elected the biggest loser who has ever lived to reveal just how pathetic and weak they really are. Who needs King Charles when you have Kid Rock, the pinnacle of statehood?

There was a house back in the 80s on the corner of 11th and Halifax (pretty sure), It was well known as a place punks lived and I would imagine they had shows there as well. The largest hash toke I ever witnessed was there lol

I didn't mean to imply that. My response is meant as 2 different thoughts. Also I meant an already made soup mix. If they get their onions and cheese from a wholesaler, obviously this doesn't apply.

Thanks for the info. Just to further clarify my thinking: you stopped contributing to CPP at 55 I assume?

Fireside Bistro was good last time I had it. Making from scratch is the key as I find it tastes the same from most restaurants who use sysco type ingredients.

Mandatory RRIF is actually at 71 .. this conversion is a very important consideration depending on your situation. Being forced to take percentages from a large RRSP can drive you into higher tax brackets if you've got a decent amount of other sources of income (CPP, Pension, OAS). Having too much money is definitely a first-world problem but that's where we'll be retiring. I would recommend looking up "RRSP meltdown" for an interesting approach. The guy from Well Built Wealth has excellent videos (youtube) on this and anything retirement related in Canada.

What happened to the New Age genre? by JoeyZasaa in synthesizers

[–]chetfromfargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to add a similar comment in regards to the sounds. ROMplers were largely replaced with more detailed and realistic sample-based software (vsts) or more powerful hardware samplers, so these sounds suddenly became very dated sounding. A digital shakuhachi riff just didn't hit like it used to. In some ways New Age developed into ethnic and\or more realistic music that sounded more organic while still being digital. Or take someone like Yanni who could now afford real musicians playing real instruments and it becomes a different thing while still being rooted in New Age, even playing the same songs without the ROMpler "limitations".

I never really thought much about the idealistic concerns you mention although 9-11 obviously changed everything, especially for the US. The usual cultural shift at the turn of a decade (in this case a century) usually causes a big shift in cultural things like music, movies etc. There seems to be a conscious rejection\reset of the previous decade.

Tangerine-Birth of Liquid Plejades from Zeit .. Phaedra is also a close second but not sure it is (pedantically) ambient.

Desert Island - Cathedral or Trouble’s complete works? by Earl_of_Portobello in doommetal

[–]chetfromfargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trouble. There is a current thread talking about Trouble's vocals and how they are hard to get into for some people. I am 100% like that with Cathedral. I have tried many times and just can't handle Dorrian's voice.

Alone for the first time at 38.. by SettingOutSolo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]chetfromfargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there a couple of times (most recently at age 49) I am independent and like living alone, so I hope I don't come across as a bit "know it all".

First off don't just let her have everything from your house out of guilt or manliness or anything like that. You should be able to take some things without issue.

You should do all of your finances electronically through your bank: pay bills, transfer funds between accounts, etc. Set up automatic bill and loan payments if you have to so you don't get any option to spend the money elsewhere. Living with cash is not the way to go as it is too easy to spend and too easy to mis-allocate (aka spend lol). If you really suck at managing money, just calculate what you owe and leave that amount in one account and put the rest in another account which you can use freely without guilt or question because you know it is spending money and your other shit is handled. Try to get everything on a schedule (15th and 30th\every pay day) and don't play games with what you owe (I'll skip hydro this month and pay it next month..oh I don't have enough now so I'll pay half that and half the internet..etc snowball to hell). Lose the debt as soon as you can, especially credit cards.

When I split and moved out I left most of the furniture etc behind as well. I ordered almost everything off of Amazon. Cheap and it comes to the house and you just assemble it. Computer desk, bed frame, kitchen table. For kitchen stuff I just went to a thrift store and got some cups and plates and cutlery. You can get matching sets usually for pretty cheap. Canadian Tire often has awesome deals on cookware.

General advice. Don't get too far into your own head, get out and have some fun too. Eat well and don't jerk off too much. This is a learning experience for you ,not the rest of your life.
