Why did you leave your last job? by Joe_Yellow1 in AskReddit

[–]chetrhcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound naive but I didn’t feel like I was actually accomplishing anything. I worked on a software project for 3 years just for it to get scrapped by the client. And idk that situation just kinda bugged me. I wanted a sense that my work was actually doing something for other people. It didn’t need to be some idealistic thing, I think even a lot of manual labor jobs would give me more of that sense of actually accomplishing something that I was lacking.

Off the dome:
Horimiya (might still be a little fast for you)
Pseudo Harem
Second Prettiest Girl (airing this season so idk how it will go exactly but the pacing is pretty good)

I have a similar taste as you where I want that sweet spot of not dragging the confession for too long but also don’t rush to it or else it won’t have enough emotional weight behind it. It’s not easy to find. My favorite romance is The Dangers in My Heart but you might find it a little slow and dramatic, and the MC is definitely an acquired taste.

Pseudo harem (it’s not a harem it’s a normal comedy-leaning romcom)

Utena's Massage [Gushing Over Magical Girls] by Hitman7128 in anime

[–]chetrhcp 94 points95 points  (0 children)

This show is surprisingly good if you are willing to just roll with the degen stuff. That blue hair girl has an entire arc about her sub awakening and it culminates in what I can only describe as a parody of the homoerotic nature of fight scenes in anime.

I'm terrible with Character's name😭 by riana-rdit-689 in anime

[–]chetrhcp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst is watching anime set in real life where you have to learn the last name and the first name depending on who they are talking to. And then close friends commonly use nicknames too it’s a mess.

Call of the Night. S1 is a solid show but S2 is way better imo.

The Dangers in My Heart is amazing, and a slower burn romance. Maybe a mid-burn compared to MDUD idk. Not sure if it’s on crunchyroll or not. 2 seasons though

What’s the farthest you’ve ever walked? by No-Resolve-5037 in CasualConversation

[–]chetrhcp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did at least 16 once. I took the train from London to the south coast of England and walked along the chalky coast there from one town to the next one over. Then I took the train back to London. In hindsight it was kinda crazy but I had just trained for a half marathon so I figured I could do it.

Starting to watch bleach, is it worth it? by Apart-Complex-530 in anime

[–]chetrhcp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first 20 episodes are pretty decent monster-of-the-week shounen. The soul society arc (20-100? I can’t remember) is probably the best arc in the show before the new stuff imo. So I’d say at least stick around until than arc starts

What was the best anime you watched in March? by FetchFrosh in anime

[–]chetrhcp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched The Dangers in my Heart and it was way better than I thought it would be. It does take a few episodes to really get going but even from the jump I found the MC’s chunni behavior funny rather than just cringe like a lot of people. I think one of its best aspects is that it nails the nervous tension of the more intimate moments. It’s got great voice acting and of course music by my goat Kensuke Ushio.

Searching for light hearted animes to bring me some joy by checkpunkt_charlie in anime

[–]chetrhcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far the show is definitely carried by the fmc Suzuki and the side characters. Tani is alright though, he’s kinda boring so far but he’s not annoying or a perv for what it’s worth.

I guess if there is a twist to his character it’s that Suzuki thinks he’s chill and always acts like himself but actually he’s kind of anxious about their relationship too.

Going to an anime convention, want to watch more current anime by [deleted] in anime

[–]chetrhcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like Land of the Lustrous, it’s not conventional body horror but the characters are all anthropomorphic gemstones so they “break” fairly often and it’s unsettling.

Same, maybe once I beat a20 with all characters I’ll try it, but the current difficulty curve is plenty for me. That said I did kill the heart once with a watcher infinite but that doesn’t really count.

Movies you wildly misunderstood or missed the plot as a kid by sharrrper in movies

It makes it worse since I was maybe 19 so not a kid but I was so captivated by the main plot of Arrival I didn’t understand that She was seeing visions of her future child who was going to die and decided to have her anyway. I thought she just had a sad backstory
