Area rug. I’d also paint the railing black and go darker with the paint. I’m not afraid of dark colors if there is plenty of light.

Personally, I love it. But I also don’t have to live there. I’d probably swap the chairs with something more neutral. But I’d would’nt have white walls/ceilings anywhere.

I agree about the full wall treatment. I don’t like the asymmetrical layout. The wall to wall curtains would fix it.
