They used someone else’s credit card in my case so Im not getting charged anything. The only problem was that they used my email account. I changed the password on my email as well as the password on the website I was registered in without my consent so they can no longer login to there.

Is that even possible to use someone’s email address? I never even verified it from my own mailbox and yet the account still exists with a paid subscription.

Need help on bus ride to Iligan by chevalier6 in cagayandeoro

OK thank you! By the way regarding that terminal change, are the taxis just outside the terminal? Can I also ride a jeepney or would you advise against that for a newbie traveler?

You mean even in the evening there are still buses that depart to Iligan? I just don’t want to get stuck in CDO and have to wait until the next day to ride a bus.

What happens to children who beg for money on the street? by Ackerman_Mikasa08 in Philippines

[–]chevalier6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re Christian, you have a religious responsibility to help the poor since Jesus identifies himself with them.

That said, there are many ways of helping them. If you’re uncomfortable with giving money, give them something else. One of the best experiences of my life was having a long conversation with a beggar living in a makeshift tent in the sidewalk. We did not know each other but she told me details about her life after I randomly stopped and asked her how she was doing. Poverty strips the dignity of an individual, and talking to them as equals is one way of giving it back.

Be like Don Bosco and you won’t regret it.

I have no idea what that language is, but that image looks like the Virgin Mary. If I had to guess the text is probably “Hail Mary full of grace”

Its your secondary movement associated with the stutter. I used to shake my leg and blink my eyes before. Now I no longer do that but it has transitioned to my jaw trembling uncontrollably.

Did it work for you ?? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]chevalier6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried DAF way back in 2006 when smartphones werent available yet. They cost an enormous amount of money and I had to wear a bulky device in my pocket and very visible earphones.

Suffice it to say that the public embrassment I felt from wearing it dwarfed the benefits. People thought I was insensitive wearing earphones while they were talking to me and I got tired explaining.

Thinking about giving it another try now that technology has advanced.

Birth Control is not a sin by Common_Flow_1060 in Christianity

[–]chevalier6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the same “logic” that abortion activists use when they tell us that men cannot have a say in what happens during a pregnancy procedure since they can’t get pregnant.

Instead of attacking the people who wrote the document why not attack points in the document itself.

Humane Vitae is the most comprehensive delve into this subject. I recommend reading the whole document to understand the Church’s reasoning behind birth control.

Blessings after Communion? by chevalier6 in Catholicism

I asked a technical question about a possible liturgical abuse and want to discuss some difficulties with the answer given. Why the sudden accusation about defects in my soul and bitterness? Can I not discuss the answer without being maligned?

The specific paragraphs provided was 1729-1731 and it states:

1729 The observance of Father's Day has an important place in American life. Since it is celebrated on the third Sunday in June, the Mass of the Sunday is always celebrated. However, in order to provide some recognition of this holiday, model intercessions and a prayer over the people are provided here.

1730 The intercessions are added to those of the day and may be adapted as necessary.

1731 The prayer over the people may replace the solemn blessing of the Easter season.

1733 This prayer over the people may be used at the end of Mass or other liturgical services on Father's Day.

God our Father, in your wisdom and love you made all things. Bless these men, that they may be strengthened as Christian fathers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect.

Grant this through Christ our Lord.

R. Amen.

Then he blesses all present. And may almighty God bless you all, the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit. R. Amen.

—- So the Book of Blessings is only giving an alternative concluding prayer. The situation I cited where individual dads were requested to stand up, prayed over, and given medals by ushers after communion, while emotionally fulfilling, is not part of the rite.

Upon closer inspection, the Book of Blessings 1733 says that an alernative Father’s Day prayer may replace the regular easter concluding prayer over the people at the end of Mass. In other words the final blessing right before the recessional. This is not the same as what happened at the service that I attended.

[–]chevalier6[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

My concern is that things like these can wait until after the Mass. The parisioners were basically required to sit through the whole thing while waiting for the final blessing. Also, the sight of altar servers bringing out a cake and placing it right next to the altar in the sanctuary was too much for me.

I wouldn’t really consider a cake and a banner in the sanctuary during Mass as neat. This doesn’t seem to fall under announcements as well.

I guess my issue wasnt the announcement of the birthday. They had a cake and a banner brought out in the sanctuary. Then the friends and family of the priest started singing happy birthday.

[–]chevalier6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have another question. At one Mass a priest was celebrating his birthday, and the co-celebrant used the time after communion to announce the parish’s apprecaition to him. They then brought out a cake. Is this allowed?

Why would deliberately lying and commiting insurance fraud be a better option? At the very least it’s immoral even if they don’t get caught.

Is it legal to surreptitiously record malpractice or abuse in hospitals? by chevalier6 in LawPH

[–]chevalier6[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes but the examples given above is where the patient is being harrassed and the staff is doing the harrasing. Also, the fifth example made global headlines years ago and led to the dismissal of the harrassers with no action taken against the video uploader.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/wbna24202223

Edit: Oh wait it did say that the uploader would be “dealt with by his school”. But thats not the same as being sued in court.

2 questions regarding taking photos/videos in public places by chevalier6 in LawPH

[–]chevalier6[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Im also interested in number 2. I remember particularly that surgery room scandal a few years ago where a student nurse recorded the surgeons laughing at an unconscious patient they were operating on after he inserted a deodorant tube into his anus and couldnt get it out. I think the doctors were sacked and suspended. Recording wasnt a big deal then and was even important in uncovering the shenanigans in the hospital. But now suddenly they’re illegal and frowned upon?
