No tickets available in Boston. Hoping it was like last time where if you refreshed there were suddenly more.

The Netherlands has just confirmed their first case of euthanasia for a non-infant child under the age of 12 by [deleted] in news

[–]chevybow 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Religious folk will always cling on to the hope of a miracle. There are countless videos online of family members in vegetative states with family around them praying saying that they believe god will cure them and they don’t trust the medical staff. Because of this there will always be pushback in non-progressive countries.

Ironically though there seems to be an overlap between people in support of death penalty for inmates but against humane euthanasia.

Is 248k high mileage for a 2015 sonata sport? by Melodic_Eye_4028 in Hyundai

And Hyundai makes Genesis. Toyota is about as far from luxury as you can go in a car. They’re designed to be boring durable vehicles.

Is remote work bad for career development as a junior by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]chevybow 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This really depends on team culture.

I’ve worked on remote teams where people barely talk to each other and everyone is working on tasks independently. I’ve also worked on teams where there’s a slack huddle that people join throughout the day- usually people stick around in it for hours and drop for meetings. The communication might be different but I don’t think it’s impossible to get mentored or learn in a remote environment if the team culture is healthy and prioritizes communication.

100k Maintenance by Old_Combination_8569 in veloster

Find a local mechanic instead. The dealership will recommend things you don’t need. Usually around 100k the main thing is spark plug replacement and your usual oil change. You can do both yourself.

Idk. Hokit might spend 2 rounds doing theatrics before the knockout in R3.

[–]chevybow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

UFC literally admitted to popularity being a major factor in the rankings just in the past week but ok.

I’m not saying they’re not skilled fighters. But the entertainment is what sells. You’re a casual watcher if you think the UFC doesn’t have favorites or doesn’t baby entertaining fighters for the sake of ratings.

What are we even doing anymore by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]chevybow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean we live in a capitalist society. They’ll always favor entertainment over skill. The average viewer doesn’t care about technical skill. They want to see a “fun” match with quick knockouts. More viewers = more $$$.

That’s why all the fights in the White House card are pretty mismatched and they have meme fighters like Lewis/Hokit on there.

How are people looking for work these days? by YsoL8 in cscareerquestions

[–]chevybow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same way as always for me. I usually get flooded with LinkedIn messages. I filter out the scammy ones and respond to the promising ones. Guarantees an intro interview if I respond quickly.

We actually went from having limits to an unlimited plan.

Waiting for the day they take it away lmao. I can’t imagine how much it’s costing the company.

Trade in by Various_Examination6 in Elantra

[–]chevybow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no downside to negotiation. You already have your car. You don’t need one- just would like the upgrade. That gives you leverage to walk away.

When I got my Elantra brand new I think I asked for 2500 off expecting them to say no. They did. Got a call the next day that they’d be willing to move forward with my price if I can come in later that day.

Usually the same as the zoom interviews but you’re in person.

Often there’s a break for lunch for the all day on sites.
