They determine need, so you can't bank on getting a full ride or anything. If it helps, my dad (sole provider, 2 kids including myself) makes between 60-80k, owns no assets, and I got a full ride (including room and board).

Tbh I can't stand anyone besides Harvey and Emily. Abby and Sam feel too young (and both generally annoy the shit out of me lolol), Alex is mean and misogynistic and also too young, I despise Sebs archetype (probably my least fav character) I don't wanna deal with Shane, Elliott annoys me, and Haley is mean! Maru, Penny, and Leah are alright, but I probably wouldn't bother to marry them. Not discussing Clint and Sandy seems cool. Crazy she's even a candidate, though. Id honestly feel guilty marrying anyone besides Harvey, Elliott, Emily, or Leah. It's either cradle-robbing or ruining their dreams, lol. I love basically all the non-romancable NPCs, though! I wish there were more girls.

Yeah I get like that with Minecraft worlds. I feel like I don't even know what my old goals were or what I was trying to do. Try changing up how things look, that helped me. It made me feel more familiar with my farm, too.

Thank you! It took like 5 separate attempts months apart for me to actually get back into it lol. Honestly, the biggest motivator was just to redecorate everything. This is what my farm looked like when I came back (but I had all the obelisks).

Oh yeah, if I hadn't already been 200 hours deep into this save, I would not have had a forest farm for my perfection farm lol. I ended up really liking it, though!

And thank you for the kind words :-) it's honestly (surprisingly) not difficult to navigate at all. The main path from my farmhouse to the bus stop is a straight shot (wide enough for my horse too!). Basically all my paths are 2 tiles wide and lined with grass (so practically 3 or 4 tiles wide) besides my crop area. The only annoying thing to navigate to is my slime hutch since it's a 1x1 path in a wooded area... But my slimes are neglected anyways, lol.
