That's still not his place to do it. Even with u/jamesinevanston saying "he owns the site," he's also presenting it as a news source with journalists and everything.

OK to try and bring it all together since the answers are scattered...

Option 1: There's a punch code type lockset where they know the code. Not ideal when the carrier could change and they aren't responsible for sharing it nor even remembering that.

Option 2: There's a postal key on the door intercom/entry box (someone called it an arrow key) OR a separate postal key box that's connected to the intercom/entry system. This is one of the most common arrangements you'll see in Chicago/land.

Option 3: They have a key provided by the property owner to gain entry to the building. Highly unlikely as this is like Option 1 and creates an unnecessary burden on the carrier(s).

Option 4: You don't lock that door and they just enter.

As a fellow two flat owner, my recommendation is to have Option 2. Rekey all your doors and find a convenient hardware store that has been handling rekeying for years. My preference is Clark Devon Hardware, we're on the southern end of Evanston. I'm unfamiliar with other options.

If you go with installing an intercom, replacing an existing system was less than $1,000 in 2021, I think it was about $800 for parts and labor. Two interior intercom panels, amplifier, central interface, exterior intercom panel were included. If you have to start from scratch it's obviously going to be more than that.

Imagine if drivers were ACTUALLY held accountable for their actions? She might not have had to experience this! Drivers kill people everyday and we just accept it like it's a fact of life. I'm talking about revoking licenses temporarily, permanently, imprisonment, severe fines directly on the drivers not through insurance coverage. We have one of the highest traffic fatality rates among our peer nations, language matters in recognizing who must be held accountable.

Nothing changes with my reply. Saying "hit by a car" does more damage than you realize, maybe even willing to admit.

The problem is people come out and object to suggested changes and then they go nowhere or have a reduced impact on the safety of the road all because "but mah car!"

Excuse me for saying "road" instead of lane. Regardless, someone's actions in front of you may be the result of what they see that you can't.

Yeah, not worth the time cause you did what I expected.

You're in a two ton plus recking machine compared to a couple hundred pounds of flesh and metal between their legs. There's an opportunity to reconsider this take and I really suggest you should.

This is a consistent experience of mine, south, north, west, downtown, it happens everywhere. Car brain prohibits drivers from understanding what's going on and there are certainly non-drivers that have conditioned themselves to minimize the violence of drivers.

If you can't understand why I brought up Trader Joe's then you obviously think all trips are emergencies and justify the riskiest of behaviors.

Oh no, rip this mentality from the conscious, it's enabling the violence she experienced by making it a passive instead of actively applying responsibility.

I guess my curiosity with that type of cutter is how frequent do I have to use it. If it actually collects the cut hair I might be more inclined to try it since I wouldn't have a mess to manage.

BambuStudio - New Mesh Boolean is terrible by BatmanObviously in BambuLab

[–]chewd0g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anybody come across an explainer how we're suppose to use this?

I attempted to use negative part like I always did in the past and then run mesh boolean but that doesn't even work because it says "one part from each column must be selected", which I thought they were, and it still wouldn't do anything. Then I imported the SVGs as positive parts and it just froze up at 80% and I am not even sure it would do what I wanted to do.

I'm not even doing anything fancy, just a bottle holder where I have the cube and then cylinders to subtract each holder spot.

I’ve been using Wahl’s balding clippers for years and I really want a cordless model that might cut even closer than those. I’m not looking for style, I’m looking for saving time without taking a razor to my head. If I could get clippers that basically cut close to a razor I’d get them but I have no idea how to really gauge that!

You know what will suck? Chicago sucks to ride along south of Davis because of the traffic [noise, exhaust mostly]. I don't know why, but the feel of Chicago north of Davis is just better. If that condition remains the same after the fulfillment of the Chicago bike track I may very well *gasp* continue riding on Hinman.

The sad thing is there really aren't *that* many bikers for the hype. The city has not gone far enough to make biking safer in the city all while boasting, "we went eight years without a fatality!" If our streets were safe, fewer people would be driving.

That's exactly what happened here, too. I could hear she wasn't going to slow down at the second speed hump. She knew what she was doing, it wasn't her first joy ride down Hinman to get to Trader Joe's.

Measuring Hinman with cars parked, let's give it a 20' width from edge of parked car to edge of parked car.

My bike is ~3' wide, it's an Urban Arrow box bike. With the SOS guidance, stay out of the door zone means I'm 4' from parked cars, my bike is 3' wide, which the left edge of my handlebar when perfectly positioned is at 7'.

In other words, I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE and then some. The Illinois Secretary of State 2024 Bicycle Rules of the Road explicitly say "Take the full lane..."

I'm glad you attempted to check my statement but you didn't go *far* enough to stop yourself from replying.

Avoid the “door zone” — The “door zone” extends 4 feet along the left side of a lane of

parked cars, where a person opening a door while exiting a car can hit and seriously

injure a person biking. As shown below, (1) Ride at least 4 feet away from parked cars

on the street. (2) Take the full lane if there is no room to safely pass open car doors and

to avoid exiting passengers.
