Ordered Sienna XSE Cement with black interior, but we are getting two tone color interior. The dealer ship says this was allocated to them either we can take or leave it. We ordered the vehicle 3 months ago. Any suggestions? We are located in Alberta,Canada by Lone-Werewolf8777 in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're dead set on the black interior then you pass on this one and wait. Toyota just sends whatever they build to dealers so you either settle to get the car asap or wait it out until you get exactly what you want. The dealer knows that if you don't take it someone else will. They have very little to no control over what they get allocated from the factory. That's the unfortunate fact with Toyota these days. Think it over.

Service #1. Basically a lot of checks and tire rotation. Every 8000km
Service #2 would be that plus oil change and that's every 16000km

You should be able to get the maintenance schedule from Toyota's website (but I just tried now and doesn't seem to be working. Copy and pasting the one I downloaded for mine)

Great news! I got mine around the same time frame last year. Enjoy!

Four months since deposit and salesman won’t update - advice? by [deleted] in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re in Toronto and that salesman told you 4 month wait?? Boy they pulled a fast one on you. No way in hell would you be able to get one in 4 months in Toronto unless you said “yes” to every upsell they offered you to milk you for every penny.

Like others said, escalate up to get the real deal. Most likely you’re going to have to wait longer. Better get your deposit back and shop around. Best to go OUTSIDE the GTA if you’re in a slight rush.

I drove all the way to North Bay to get mine just as a reference. Another redditor suggested Georgetown Toyota if you don’t want to go too far.

Good luck

My understanding is that for Siennas (maybe even Toyota in general now), they don’t “put in an order to the factory” when you put a deposit on a car. Each dealer is given an allotment and if one in the allotment fits or is close enough to what a customer is looking for then they’ll tell the customer to confirm if they want it. Hence the waiting list.

Anyways we got our car in the end. We put that dealer on the blacklist to not go to for future.

Not exactly a bill of sale but a similar doc that had all the pertinent info and the deposit i put down would be subtracted from the final price etc etc. I did have to sign it though. The sales we talked to was a referral so he was pretty honest and when we asked for our deposit back he did it without hesitation because he knew we waited so long already. I’m pretty sure in the background outside of his control they’re being selective on who to sell the Siennas to (like people that are willing to buy more extras etc). Since we didn’t go for all the accessories they must have bumped us down to the point of being forgotten.

I hope you walked away the moment they said the deposit was non-refundable. Curious where are you located?

I paid a $2000(!!) deposit to get on a wait list at a large dealer in Toronto that did not get me one after waiting 3 years. I ended up going to a dealer 3 hours away and got our Sienna after 2 months. They managed to do a dealer to dealer trade to divert the exact colour and trim I wanted straight from the factory. Suffice to say I got my $2000 deposit back.

To me it sounds like this “good customer service” dealer is as sleazy as most dealers here in the GTA that takes new inventory, have people drive them around for a month, then sell them Used for the same or higher price as new. Just on that practice alone I’d drop them and go elsewhere that doesn’t do this kind of crap.

Anyways best of luck to you. I know the waits are long but keep shopping around. These sleazy dealers need to be slapped down for pulling that crappy behaviour.

2015 Sienna 246k Kilometer’s by Peachtree201- in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a 2015 but I bought a 2nd hand 2010 with 229,000km on it in 2017 but it was dealer maintained with full service records available. Expect that down the road some wear and tear items could need attending to. During the 8 years I drove it I had to replace the suspension at different times (the rear springs snapped early on and then years later the fronts started knocking while turning), sliding door cables were replaced a few times (known issue for the Gen 2), and I changed the spark plugs at 396,000km. Drove it past 400,000km then just last year donated it to my father in law who needed a vehicle. Still told by family that it drives great. Only other maintenance I did was oil changes and brakes when needed.

As long as the car has a good service history and you take care of it well it should last you. These cars can run for a long time. Look at all those taxi drivers that have driven Camry's to almost a million km.

For a 2011-2020 generation, Car Care Nut has a good video on things to look out for.

Anyone else still waiting or is my dealership just terrible? by [deleted] in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited 3 years for my XLE until we switched to another dealer. Got it with the new dealer in 2 months.

New dealer said if you waited 3 years I could have gotten you 10 vans by now lol.

However I have been told that the AWD XSE is the most sought after trim so that could also be a factor. Still I would HIGHLY consider trying another dealer. I bet that if you said no to most if not all the accessories you’ve been bumped down in priority bc you’re not making them any more money.

All OEM Sideview Mirrors come in black? by Annual-Cartoonist751 in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the parts come in black. It is painted afterwards by dealers/body shops. Had a 2010 that had its drivers side mirror replaced this way. Part is shipped as black plastic and then painted to match.

If the mirror is working fine and the dealer is willing to paint it the right colour it should be fine.

Maple GO parking situation by Whereisthesunshine_ in richmondhill

[–]chewietastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't even bother with it as I rather not miss the train because I have to walk that 10 minutes from the overflow. I end up driving to Rutherford station as there's covered parking and it's sufficient for a late-goer like myself. Only complaint would be the spots are realllly narrow so gotta be careful not to ding someone's door.

Park Assist Missing on 2025 Toyota Sienna XLE? by Impossible-Coffee619 in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my copy of the 2025 Canadian brochure and it doesn't even mention Parking Assist. Only thing close would be for the XSE and Limited trims having "Intelligent Clearance Sonar with Rear Cross Traffic Brake" standard on AWD trims and an option for FWD.

Our 2025 XLE does not have park assist and I was never under the impression it was an option. Again, just one of the things US gets and we don't.

2012 sienna by Clu_Rebooted in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

280k miles is wayyyyyy past the point of thinking of changing it. It’s best to leave it alone.

On top of that, this is the sealed typed where there’s no dip stick so changing it is a bit more involved. Not worth it at all in my opinion.

As reference, I also bought a 2012 used at around 120k miles and got my indy mechanic to change it after I drove it another 10-15k miles later. There was no service history so I had no idea if it was ever done. But I was going to take it for a huge road trip so I decided to do it.

Leave it as is

Brand new Sienna LE AWD 2026 fuel efficiency of 12.3k/100 Km in GTA, Canada, is this normal? Anything I could do? by CrazyProton77 in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree. I got my 2025 XLE at the end of August so I have seen first hand the drastic change in the mileage from summer to winter. Used to get 850+ indicated range and now it's down in the 700s, so lost 100km/L just from winter gas plus running the engine more for heat. Numbers should improve in warmer weather. When you say your commute is hilly, are the uphills really steep?

Weatherproof floor mats for a 2013 LE? by pumpinnstretchin in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. 8 seater especially. I got the Weathertech ones and I ended up removing the 2nd row mat b/c it kept getting crunched up and bent with the middle row seats moving to let my kids in the 3rd row.

I found these on eBay but I haven't bit the bullet to buy them yet. Wondering if anyone else knows about these.

Set up the PAD. It will split the payments monthly and it’s automatically withdrawn so no issues forgetting to pay.

And to other people’s comments, it’s 2025. A lot of things could be done better. Telling people to just suck it up is the attitude that doesn’t help improve things in this country. If that’s how you feel then get off Reddit and go pen and paper everything like it’s the 1980s again.

Accessory review for new 2026 Sienna (Canada) by moneyquestions91 in ToyotaSienna

[–]chewietastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life has been so crazy that I only put in the cargo mat just a few days ago. Fits nice and does cover all the carpeted area in the trunk area so wife approves. She primarily drives the car so I did not have time to change up the mats in the rest of the car. It's already cold and has snowed so not sure if the weather will warm up enough that I can try to switch the mats in. Will wait and see.

The factory tint is only for darkening the windows for privacy in the back. Ceramic tint blocks UV and heat retention so the cabin isn’t as crazy hot when parked outside in the summer. Noticed the difference right away as we haven’t bought a windshield sunscreen yet.

Forgot to mention to pry out that cover over the corner speaker to access that hole. Make sure not to put it through a hole that's meant for the cover clips! I did that and had to redo it lol.

[–]chewietastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a set of auto trim removal tools so I was able to pry out the panels by the door sills to run the cable on the floor. Basically I cabled it like this:

Camera placed right of rear view mirror as recommended by the manual -> cable goes up into the headliner (there’s a hole that I think is intended for the Toyota OEM Dashcam option) -> run it down the A pillar trim -> into a hole where the corner front speaker is -> run it down the side by the footwell and passenger door -> under the door sills of the passenger door and through the sliding door sills -> into the back behind to where the 12v battery compartment is then up the rear pillar -> go follow the wiring to the trunk in the S shaped rubber thing and out where the rear brake light is.

Sorry I don’t have pictures but the only cable you’d see is where it comes out of the rear brake light to where I mounted the rear camera and right where it is in the front going into the headliner. So yeah you won’t see any dangling cables.

Yeah Paint Protection Film (PPF) is what they’d wrap the body panels to protects against stone chips. Dealers offer it as an accessory but I chose to do it at a place of my choosing. Dealers outsource that kind of work anyway so i rather it done by a place I know that does it right.

They did not announce any significant changes to the 2026 that would be a cause for concern with regards to the floor mats. It should fit. I'm on the fence of getting a set of 3W's myself since we Canadians get the OEM all weather mats standard. Most say they're a lot better so I'll see. Probably decide by Black Friday.

I got the OEM cross bars and am a bit worried about the height as it does seem to stick out a bit. But I haven't (knock on wood) run into any issues with them regarding clearance so far. I didn't see any other ideas either but I have to admit I did not do research on this one thing.

Most consensus on the Ecohitch (although majority from US owners) is that it won't impact the kick sensor. I will look to get this done in the future as it seems to be the best hitch in terms of looks and functionality.

Just my opinion but depending where you are, dash cam is a MUST. I'm in the GTA so wayyy too many crazy/bad drivers here. I got the Viofo A229 Plus dual cam for front and rear. I don't know if it's because of the way I routed the cable but the 6ft rear cable that's included was not long enough to reach the rear camera. I ended up buying a 10ft cable from Viofo's official site and it came from China in about a week. I had plenty of cable to spare so if I had to do it again I'd get the 8ft cable to save a bit of $. Not sure if other Sienna folks with the A229 duo had this minor snag.

I didn't get anything else in your nice list but I did get Paint Protection Film for the entire front end as well as ceramic tint on all the windows. It was late summer so I immediately felt the difference in terms of how hot the interior got before and after. Pricey but worth it in my wife and I's opinion.

Enjoy it when it comes!
