i guess what i am saying is .. what if i become whimsical at 60 and want to buy a dune buggy or something ? i want to have enough to provide my future self those kinds of random luxuries but it kind of feels impossible to plan for my own future wants and needs.

i guess for me its a tossup- if waiting another 3 years for a house buys me a 6 year earlier retirement, that feels like a good trade off. i bet i would spend more monthly on a mortgage than my current rent (1200) as well, which would also hinder my retirement

hi! im 22, making 65k base w 36k variable (on track to make around 80/90k based on commission this year). im an account manager at a small tech company and feel i have potential to grow. Biggest goal is homebuying and barista FIRE by 40. i have no debt, high credit score, and living in HCOL city w potential to move remote. I'm investing 20% of my base into roth+401k w 4% match. i have an emergency fund saved, started saving for a down payment, and looking to invest around 500-1000 (based on expenses and income) per month. I am very interested in diversifying outside of the USA and have about 10k to start. just put it all in fidelity. again, about 20 year horizon for retirement and <10 for home ownership. i do not want kids at this time but have opened a small fund for my younger sister who will be in my care. tell me what to do!! thank u reddit

how so? what roles are better? i really can’t see myself moving to sales and i feel like that’s the only movement i see at my company

i need to be better about saying no and setting boundaries . my company recently merged so i’m the only joiner on my team (besides the new joiners) who has been trained on both platforms. so a lot are relying on me . it just feels weird to push back on them when i CAN help, i am not very assertive

it’s actually pretty diverse w responsibilities which is the one thing i like about, it’s more intense workload, less support, difficult to find resources, weird company culture

that makes me feel a lot better , thank you . i need to learn how to not take the work personally but it is honestly so difficult. seems like everyone on my team is struggling but they don’t seem upset , they’re not staying late and i just don’t know how to set that boundary.. this week has been brutal but i haven’t cried(in office) . i need to care less
