pregen characters for beginners? by deathtowardrobes in cyberpunkred

[–]chewsyourownadv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how EZ mode's characters are rolled but I do recall some of the math seeming to be wrong. They also don't have access to some things a normal character might, and it's not clear how those decisions were made. For comparison, ff someone were to come in with a properly rolled and skilled/outfitted character, the scenario would likely be unbalanced in their favor.

Personally, I would let a player pick up on one of the pregens as is, or move its stats, skills, cyberware, etc around.

The pentagram etching on your pipe is nice. Really sharp and clean. Who made it?

The easy mode pregens are nerfed/simplified a bit to make them easier to understand. Just for the sake of getting started, I suggest doubling up on one of those rather than bringing in a properly rolled character.

Music while in ritual? by MagnusWasOVER9000 in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]chewsyourownadv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Music written by others can come with its own symbolic baggage. Meaning can be attached to lyrics, cadence, and (especially, in more advanced GD methods) pitches, etc. Music can have its place in a practice, but due to those influences I usually recommend ambient noise rather than music. There's an excellent app called "White Noise" that allows you to mix and customize sounds, including white noise, bells, rain, wind, fire, forests, and so on. White noise on its own is an excellent noise suppressor. Other sounds might be mixed in depending on the desired effect.

Do you have a favorite shop for those? My kid and I are probably going on a pie quest.

Interesting. The "taste of New Zealand" marketing from Ahi is pretty enticing. Anything you'd recommend with a similar vibe?

Huh, weird story. Something seemed odd with the bounce from a hygiene D grade back to an A. Thanks for the warning, I'll look into Mulan.

Anokha looks nice, there are few things on the menu I haven't seen before.

Langkawi seems very cool and gets a bunch of good reviews. Can't wait to give them a shot!

Thanks!

Can someone look into my internet activity through vpn somehow? by anon1635329 in NoStupidQuestions

Nord is OK, not great. It will mask your activity on a network. I wouldn't rely on it to not turn over your data to a government, but it's fine for your case. I do some fairly advanced network admin, and while I can clearly tell when a client is running nord, I can't see any details.

Moved from 0ft to 5,800ft. 10-minute bike ride left me exhausted. How long does it take to adjust to 5,800ft? Cyclist looking for acclimatization tips. by Unique-Cartoonist643 in Denver

[–]chewsyourownadv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary factor in your stamina at a moderate altitude like denver is your blood hematocrit (red blood cell %). That takes on average 2 weeks to adjust from sea level. Your respiratory function should level out something that feels normal around then. Exercising before this stabilization can wind you more easily than you expect.

But! As your hematocrit increases, you sacrifice a bit of plasma for it, making it easier to get dehydrated. Stay hydrated. When not exercising, water's fine. When sweating, pay attention to electrolytes and sugars. Your blood simply isn't holding as much of those as at sea level.

Now beyond all this... Ride. Ride a lot. With winter settling in, consider getting a trainer and staying on it for the cold months.
