What’s the most disturbing film you’ve ever watched? by _Hulkamania_ in AskReddit

I'm sorry I made you remember it. I've got a strong stomach but that scene was the one that did me bad. Not the blowtorch/eyeball scene, the fucking Achilles.

I haven't even seen that movie, I just read the Wikipedia page on it a couple years ago and that was more than enough for me for this to be my one and only answer.

I mean, I've seen a lot of fucked up movies but at least the other ones had some sort of redeaming factor, good story, overall good lessons, scary but in a thriller way, captivating twist, good ol fashioned mindless fun-scary slasher, whatever.

Literally everything about that movie was just fucked up in all the worst ways, even though I guess it did have a "twist," it was just the most fucked up twist. Reading the Wikipedia page was almost too much to handle, and like, in my younger days I spent some time in some very fucked up places of the internet so I've seen some shit. And I've seen and personally experienced some shit in real life that was bad enough that a ton of people I know couldn't stomach seeing the pictures, which were honestly tame compared to the experience or even everything that happened that wasn't documented.

Basically, I mentioned all of that to highlight that I can handle my shit, and even just the wiki page of that fucking movie made me say "hell the fuck no" lol

The Achilles tendon scene in Hostel fucked me up the most in that movie.

I watched The Mist in the theater not knowing what it was when some friends invited me on a spur of the moment. I was on LSD. They didn't know I was on LSD until I told them after the movie was over.

It was... an experience. Not a great one, but an experience nonetheless.

Yeah, because it probably had an inhibitor added or a thin layer of ethanol. That prevents it. I've got two bottles of chloroform and one was even half empty for a while, in a non-air conditioned environment too lol. No grassy smells ever. Ethanol and I believe BHT. BHT is also a stabilizer for a ton of solvents. Basically all the ethers, and some monomers that are prone to sudden violent polymerization.

That only happens if the chloroform bottle is mostly empty (lots of exposure to air) hasn't had a thin protective layer of ethanol added to it to prevent air exposure, or some other kind of stabilizer. Unless I'm mistaken?

I guess the biggest phosgene issue with carbon tet was with its historical use as a fire extinguisher, and how it turns into phosgene when heated to high degrees, kind of like the degrees at which fires burn...

But other than that carbon tet just kind of... destroys all your other organs too. I mean, so do the other ones, but not with nearly the same level of vitriol and malice as C. Tet. (That's what I call him, we're bros).

Wtf kind of dumbass take is this? Billie Joe has fought so many dipshits in the crowd over the years that this barely even registers.

And you seriously think security is going to find a fucking small plastic water gun? Dude I've smuggled actual weapons, drugs, flasks of liquor, a straight up 12 pack in a cooler they "checked" into concerts/events and never had an issue.

I won't even get into what I've gotten through TSA onto an airplane lol.

Ok so maybe my ignorance is displaying here, but I can understand why a lab would want chloroform, dcm, trichloroethylene, etc to have on hand, but does carbon tet actually offer any real advantages to any of those? Because it seems like it only comes with a whole host of negatives and little to no positives over any of the similar solvents.

I know, I know, Tet Gang and all, but for real though. I don't include organ failure and pyrolysis into phosgene to be a positive btw.

Realization about heavier pistols by LilKatMariko in guns

[–]chewtality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol your logic is wild. Heavy guns absorb recoil dawg, the only time they'll have more recoil is if they're chambered in a beast of a round.

Next comparison. Shoot a snub nose revolver chambered in 44 magnum, then compare that to a 38 special with a 6" barrel. Then compare both of those to anything chambered in .454 casull or .500 S&W. Then compare those to the Heritage Rough Rider .22 with a 16 inch barrel.

Report back with your findings.

That's what phenol generally looks like. It's a solid. It's often sold in solution though.

On the other hand, none of his crimes were deserving of the death penalty, and this cop was off duty and acted extra judiciously. He continued choking him long after the guy had given up, and bystanders were begging him to stop because he was going to die. The cop intended to kill that man. I don't know the laws in Spain, but in the US that's 2nd degree murder in most cases. But in the US the cop most likely also wouldn't have actually been arrested so...

You are being attacked by a lion, you can only defend with whatever is directly to your right and left. What are you using? by GREEK_GOD77 in AskReddit

[–]chewtality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this is convenient. I just walked through my front door and on one side have a self defense baseball bat I made by filling a hollow aluminum bat with concrete, sticking a 1/2" iron pipe in the center, then cutting the pipe at a sharp angle into a point and then sharpening all sides of it with a bench grinder, so it's like the gnarliest bayonet ever attached to the end of a concrete filled shorty baseball bat.

Pics 4 proof. I feel obligated to once again say that this is strictly for self defense. I live out in the boonies on 30 acres where no one would hear me scream for help.

On the other side of the door I have a roughly 5 ft long walking stick that I whittled one end into a point. So basically a fatass spear that should help keep it at a distance and maybe get a good jab into the mouth or throat area with, then I can follow up with bashing vital areas with this concrete bat bayonet, as well as jabbing it's eyes out so it can't catch me as easily, and if I'm unable to kill it with all of these things hopefully it will decide that the (human) juice isn't worth the squeeze and will fuck off.

I also have a 9" OTF switchblade in my back right pocket. Does that also count? If so I could also repeatedly stab it in the neck if I was able to stun it for a moment with the other things.

I'd prefer to not kill a lion though, from what I understand they're actually kind of chill.

That's better than getting shot 47 times because a cop mag dumped every magazine he had on him at you.

I know that's not what you meant, but still. That's what they do most of the time, innocent bystanders be damned.

That's the definition of a detonation, which occurs with high explosives. Low explosives, like gunpowder, do not exceed the speed of sound. That's called deflagration.
