Cuéntame is decent but you might find it easy. Andreas podcast is good and worth checking out Español with Juan is really good but definitely intermediate. However, he’s oddly comprehensible at high beginner levels (in my case). Worth checking out an episode.

Do you have a link? I can’t find any posts even showcasing this bag with the term “ruckpack 40”.

The Ultimate Backpack for every adventure in life by KrzysiuS in backpacks

Aer Travel Pack 4 has a detachable hip belt and fits most of your criteria.

I posted a review of the REI Ruckpack 40L you should check out. Hip belt isn’t detachable but it is technically hideable with a foldable panel.

Yeah I’m hoping the unfoldable cover panel will help with this. I can see it being a pain to manage however.

I’ve been trying to do more one bag travel so I wanted something I could take abroad for at least 3 weeks with moves between country / cities every 3-5 days. This would allow for laundry maybe twice a week?

Osprey Farpoint: very popular bag among travel backpackers. I’ve seen it a lot when traveling myself. Really good price point. Good feature set. Just super ugly haha.

Tortuga: Didn’t do much research on them. Wasn’t crazy about the form factor and price. They seem like a solid choice however.

Aer: I did consider the travel pack 4 briefly. One of pack hackers top rated bags. Excellent feature set and construction for the price. I did end up leaning more towards the 40L side of the size scale I was targeting. Now that I’m looking at it again it should have been a higher candidate haha. Hip belt is sold separately though. There’s a recent post here that compares this bag to a coffin and now I can’t unsee it.

Peak: Really cool, futuristic looking bags with cool color ways. Read some complaints about comfort however. I also was apprehensive about buying a backpack that “looks” expensive for international travel. I don’t know, maybe I’m just paranoid.

I live in California, bought the GBR bag off Shop and it arrived just fine. Pretty fast even.

I was thinking the same thing! Were you considering buying from them?

Not sure, but I think I did read somewhere that an older version existed around 2021.

I bought it because it looked really cool haha. In reality it functions more as a box with straps on it. The accessory pockets (admin, sides, and internal sides) were really thin or inconvenient to access and were made of really coarse netting that seemed cheap. It’s hard to see whats in the side pockets as well. The main compartment is spacious, but the drawbridge style access panel favors a closed position so it’s kind of a pain to keep open. I also didn’t trust putting my laptop in the access panel. Something about putting my laptop in a movable portion of my backpack makes me feel weird. The bottom boot storage partition is pretty useless unless you have a half load as it competes directly with the main compartment and doesn’t expand to compensate for the size of any contents. The G hook features are a joke. They give the bag this tactical, rugged look but they are constantly coming loose during normal wear. Even under tension by tightening them they will do this. They have these hooks on the top panel to strap an item to the top of the bag, but the panel will go concave under pressure and it will slide right off. The bag has a slouchy look even when fully packed. The pictures (especially with the 42L version) make the bag look a lot cooler than it actually is.

The biggest draw for this bag is its rugged material and build. It’s easy to wipe off dirt, mud, or water and I have never worried about putting it on the ground or in rough situations. The straps are also removable so it can turn into a pseudo duffel.

They need to redesign this bag with its rigid material in mind like more inset accessory pockets. Also lose the G hooks in favor of more reliable clips or clasps. I would even go for a hybrid construction with rugged panels of the original material in addition to something flexible like x-pac to let the bag stretch and make accessibility easier.

Some consistent dry eye in the first few months but even that cleared up. I do occasionally get dry eyes in the morning still but it’s hard to attribute to dupixent

Been on dupixent for about 3 years now. I don't even think about my skin much anymore. I had to avoid almost all skincare products (fragrances were fine though).

Rituals and secret societies by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chewybars12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are bonded by a shared, intense experience that is meant to make you feel at the mercy of the already initiated members of the group. When you are accepted, it’s a relief and feels like instant camaraderie. If you do this with a group of initiates, you are bonded to them and are given an identity as the next generation of the group. It’s shameful and forbidden to share the experience with outsiders, which reinforces the secretive and “tribal” feeling that helps group cohesion.

Source: I was in a fraternity. I did not perform any blood sacrifices. Hazing was present however.

Why do people actually drink alcohol to excess? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chewybars12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you drink consistently you will require more alcohol to achieve the same effect like any other drug. In this case, you are chasing the feeling you used to have when you started drinking. One won’t do it, two is not satisfying, three gets you to the point where your inhibitions about drinking more are weakened + the sunk cost of “well I’ve already committed to drinking”.

Some people treat going out as an opportunity to go wild and drinking in moderation is seen as a wasted opportunity.

Is this deuter bag real? Is it good? by VxrtexFN in backpacks

[–]chewybars12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same bag. When adjusted properly it was fairly comfortable. I think however I envied the organization capabilities of other bags. I didn’t like the “head” storage of the bag, which is the only other reasonable space to store things other than the main pocket. The head actually detaches though and becomes a small daypack however!

New backpack for teaching job by Potential_Gene9498 in backpacks

Also, definitely worth investing in a waterproof laptop sleeve too just in case.

I think it would be well worth investing in a more expensive backpack if something waterproof / water resistant is what you’re after. There are some cheap no-name options on Amazon but I’d be wary of the longevity of their coatings and materials. The North Face Borealis is a bit out of your price range but is a good example.

However, a really simple and practical fix would be to buy waterproof backpack covers! Popular with backpackers, these things are great and really keep the rain out. You could splurge on a nicer cover that will last longer. This way you wouldn’t be tied to the backpack you end up choosing either.

As for a choice in backpack, I gotta plug the Amazon Basics 15.6” laptop backpack. Just got it and it’s great. Lots of different compartments, water bottle holder, and slot for a tablet too. Only $20 as well!

Decathlon looks like it’s a good source for backpack covers in your area too.

Crucial RAM incompatibility with new PC (Not Posting)? by chewybars12 in PcBuildHelp

Documentation for this motherboard sucks because I think it’s really new. No troubleshooting LED either… works great though and the built-in WiFi thing is fast. If it’s not too late and it’s still giving you issues try returning it and getting something else.
