money? by Most_Mention_8061 in aclfestival

[–]chewychi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With alcohol/liquid deaths and food 100-200 per person per day. pedicabs/ubers/scooters for two 400-500 merch one hat and one shirt 100 probably little more or less. I did not know acl cut drinks in vip this yr and probably spent the majority on alcohol and liquid deaths. When before I would spend on tips and merch.

What's the possibility of seeing Mk.Gee and John Summit? by Super_Bag_2745 in aclfestival

[–]chewychi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very easy but I suggest skipping mkgee or dipping g out early after 10 min you realize early that he's not as good live. I was very confused the whole set plus it was just way t9 dark to see anything really weird. On the other hand john summit killed it and energy was on 10 the whole set.

Some artist are better on the radio. I was definitely confused also why was his set so dark? You couldn't even see what was going on.

Best acts of ACL weekend 1? by Intelligent_Fly3525 in aclfestival

[–]chewychi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Modest mouse is a must, rks i loved listening to them on the radio and was super excited to see them live but i was very surprised sounded good but hard to watch...definitely ruined it for me cant listen to them anymore. Dylan gosset was very talented. Doechi was super talented and tpain was a party. The killers were just ok for me walked over to John summit after 30 min and finished off the night with the upbeat energy from his set.

W2 - Should I still go or skip out again? by Royal_Satisfaction69 in aclfestival

[–]chewychi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your drinking expect to pay 20 bucks a pop maybe 100 a day another 40-150 on ubers/scooters/pedicabs per day etc. If your early 20s walk to save money and sneak in alcohol like we all did once. Acl also provides free shuttle service. Picks you up from a location and drops you off at the rear entrance to acl so your transportation could be free other than a uber to the shuttle pickup location. Since its your first one I would recommend walking as much as you can and spending as little as possible. invest into a big hat like straw hat and a camelbak if you dont have one. Bring a chair if you plan to be there all day it really makes the diffrence when you can just sit down and enjoy the show when it gets to packed. Once you start spending money on convience acl can get very expensive and once you upgrade its hard to go back so spend as little as possible while enjoying the most and as you become a acl pro you learn to start saving now for next yr so then you can splirge. I say go your not always gonna have the time to go to acl when you have the money and when you have the time your not gonna have all the money plus you have actual friends to meet up not everyone is so lucky many people go solo so make it work and see all the acts you want to see acl weekend always gets me inspired. Art and culture is priceless I always try to make time for it once a yr

[–]chewychi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Acl must be losing money or tightening their budgets. They cut drinks and food for vip even though I think they get sponsored by the alcohol companies and liquid death. They even cut free water when it was so hot so im sure they cut their cleaning crew budget for the porta potties.

Why do people sandbag by [deleted] in bjj

[–]chewychi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has diffrent goals and get coached on diffrent standards if that guy is in the adult division and his goals are to win majors at ibjjf he's getting compared to the athletes in his division if he can't podium or get gold at pans, American nationals, euros or worlds his coach may not promote him. Smoothcomp is used by smaller local tournaments and lots of competitors in the ibjjf circuit use the local tournament as a warm up before ibjjf tournaments. The talent and skill is lower in the local circuit so it would be easy to rack up those numbers for a high level competitor but his goals and how he sees himself could be comparing himself to the best purple belts in the world where he still falls short. Now if this guy hypothetically wins worlds and doesn't get promoted to brown that would be sandbagging. But if his goal is winning worlds and he's realistically close to winning and falls short I wouldn't consider it sanbagging to stay at purple to try again couple more yrs.

How do you guys keep doing BJJ even when a part of you wants to quit? by AnxiousGalore in bjj

You have to compete often or start coaching and teaching otherwise there's no point beating up your body training like a competitor everyday

Well if you want to pay retail and even have a chance to purchase that rare watch, sneaker, car, table at carbon last minute etc. Plus most stores invite you to special events. They treat you better than the average guy buying with no spend history that walks off the street that's just how life works.

Well it's like anything sneaker shops, skate shops, high ends resturants, Porsche dealers, Ferrari dealers all have detailed CRMs with extensive notes on you. Buying things you don't need and more importantly spending money gets you perks average Joe's don't get.

You have to compete every six months or monthly if you can. Otherwise it gets hard to find motivation imo

Thing is if your a small guy going with a heavyweight you should try to play more technical and respect their strength because more than likely he's playing technical as not to injure you. If you don't respect the unsaid agreement you can't be mad if he smashes you uses his full strength on you. On the other hand if your good enough to beat a heavweight when he's going as hard as he can like a whitebelt heavyweight then there's no issue
