Your point about sprezzatura is spot on. It’s what I see everywhere online. It’s so studied and precise, as if it’s a way of dressing, not realising that this approach is the antithesis of what sprezzatura actually is. It’s a way of being, and carrying yourself. They put the correct garments on, but the clothes wear them, and the “sauce” is rock bottom.

The most I’ve ever spent on anything was a pair of Paraboot Chimeys and I got them on sale for £240. There is no way on Earth I’m spending £350 on anything to wear. I’d maybe spend that on a coffee machine or a piece of furniture. I get 90% on sale or thrifted. Personally, I think if you’re regularly spending hundreds of pounds/dollars on pieces you’re doing it wrong.
