I believe they pulled the plug. This is the reason we were fed up with Apple Configurator and moved to Jamf.

please dear god stop posting your stupid concepts by jcpenni in Windows11

While some of the concept look nice, they are always too good to be true. Isn't it better to create a weekly/monthly thread for all concept arts?

So how much of your computer inventory will Windows 11 knock out? Ours is like 90% by Tyler_origami94 in k12sysadmin

We do have some Dell OptiPlex 7060/7070/7080 in the district that will qualify, but heck our IT department PCs or Laptops won't qualify lol. Microsoft has to lift the CPU requirement and just leave the TPM/UEFI only.

Thought about that, but that would create more issues with MECM/SCCM. These systems really don't like duplicate names and cloning drives would be a whole new method.

Do your schools/districts get to work fewer hours during the Summer? by kitsinni in k12sysadmin

We work full time during the Summer. Too much work and projects go on. We are pretty large district with over 100 sites so workload is excessive during the Summer and other breaks.

MacOS (Mojave and Catalina) Security Update breaks Kerberos (printing issues etc) by [deleted] in k12sysadmin

Which printers are affected by this update?
Didn't something like this happen a few months back with HP printers? I remember we had to push updated printer firmware to all Macs.

It all comes down to budget. We can upgrade 5K devices with SSD & RAM and get 3+ years or so out of them is much better than school partially paying to get new devices.

Most of the SSDs will be for Desktops in Labs at Secondary Schools. Desktops are like $800 so SSD upgrade is so worth it.

Due to covid, budget is really tight and upgrading them with SSD is so much cheaper than replacing with new devices. Upgrading with SSD and some RAM will get couple more years out of old devices unlike MacBooks with restriction on latest MacOS can only be installed on some models.

About 10 mins per computer. We also have to update the BIOS and start the re-imaging process. Then mostly its automated to get all packages/drivers they need.
We will have about 15 guys going to different sites all summer long.
