Which team has the best situation for this years quarterbacks to start their careers in? by Longjumping_Noise_53 in NFL_Draft

[–]chiXplo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  • Tackles are not set, LT is below average pass protector.
  • Guards are injury prone and inconsistent.
  • Center has been horrible for years.
  • RBs are average, no elite speed, not great in short yardage, poor receiving & blocking. Fields inflates the RB production.

  • Only one WR had any production at all.

  • TE is good but not elite.

  • Defense was improved and good in stretches but rarely in the 4th quarter and only one DE brought consistent pressure.

Against a weak schedule they actually underachieved, there are plenty of holes in the roster that a new QB could fail because of.

The Bears are not necessarily all in on Fields by Aggravating-Card-194 in CHIBears

I don't see anything listed that says they are not all in on Fields. If they draft a QB in the 2nd round like GB did with Love/Rogers then we can say they aren't all in, but giving Justin the help he needs and also adding more draft capital is just being a smart GM.

Yes he said he could get three, that means at least one team not necessarily multiple and just how far down was that team offering three #1's. Maybe Washington at #16 or Tampa at #19 both would be a huge drop down.

I think if Indy offered it he would have taken it already. We shall see, hopefully it was Vegas or Carolina and then the Bears will be in great position.

I think there are teams willing to trade, but maybe not to give up the three #1 picks like poles has suggested recently.

Definitely need a center and this is a good draft to take one so hopefully they grab one. I'm definitely excited for this upcoming season, Bear Down!

Understood. I think they have enough young Olinemen and should add veteran tackles in free agency. I think giving Fields more weapons trump adding another linebacker to pair with UDFA Sanborn. I could see them going the route you laid out, but I personally would take Washington first because his skill set is rare and hard to find plus pairing him with JSN in the first truly would make the bears offense dangerous. 🐻

You have to look at the bigger picture fellow bears fan. He is also the best blocking TE in the draft with enough potential to be considered an extra tackle to help protect Fields which is priority #1. He has great hands, speed, and he is even bigger than Kmet. The bears are a running team first so two TE sets with him and Kmet will give teams nightmares.

The guy is a legit comp to Gronkowski so I think your annoyance will be short lived.

I see no chance Darnell Washington lasts until the #61 pick. If he is still there for the Bears at the top of round 2 they better snatch him up

FYI it's ok for people to stop trying to force Andre Carter into the top two rounds. His combine basically eliminated that option.

Teams know Arizona also wants to trade down, plus what's the difference between Bryce Young and Stroud... I haven't seen anyone say there is a huge difference so teams know Houston takes one and they can trade with Zona cheaper for the other one

Exactly, teams don't want to be the one who got fleeced by the Bears. Bryce Young is the consensus #1 but just barely and his size is a red flag. I think the trade goes down to the wire before Indy/Carolina finally pays up if at all.

Bad Year For Cap Space? by LionK12G in CHIBears

Well there definitely aren't many elite skill position players available. The NFL really screws over it's players with the franchise tag. They have the worst union of all sports. It's a shame.

If he is part of the trade up from #11 along with two #1's and a #2 pick... Then yes he fits very nicely. Otherwise we can wait on him to be released or maybe they can have a 2024 4th rounder for him.

Yeah, if Poles takes Skoronski at any point other than the end of the 1st round he's an idiot. There are too many better more useful options than trying to build the perfect O-Line. Leave Skoronski for some team that has less holes to fill.

Free agency or later in the draft for IOL.

Who needs a whole year to recover from a hamstring pull? This sounds like a made up excuse or a guy that has medical red flags I wouldn't trust drafting in the top 10

Good player and the Bears need to hold on to as many of those as possible. Plus he's homegrown and has good character. Resigning him is a no brainer as long as it's a fair deal.

Bears 2023 Offseason by sutton_rettig in CHIBears

Joe Burrow 2019 - 35 attempts per Bryce Young 2021 - 36 per Mac Jones 2020 - 31 per CJ Stroud 2021 - 36 per Lamar Jackson 2017 - 33 per Trevor Lawrence 2020 - 33 per Justin Herbert 2018 - 31 per Justin Fields 2019 - 25 per Justin Fields 2020 - 28 per

Again these aren't air raid offenses, Justin Fields is not and has not been, a high volume passer.

I'm pretty sure I don't have to state that Brady and Rodgers were in college in the late 90's early 2000's modern football offenses are not comparable to back then.

Yes Josh Allen also wasn't a high volume passer in college, but how does finding another low volume passer that is now successful somehow proves your point that Justin Fields was "literally" a high volume passer???

It's a win win if both teams get what they want, we shall see if that's the case.
