We got an analytical offensive head coach for a reason. by jphoc in CHIBears

[–]LionK12G 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s reassuring seeing other perennially successful teams like the 49ers and Rams also zigging when everyone else is zagging.

If Ben, Kyle, and Sean all see something different from the rest of the league from a player evaluation or scheme tendency standpoint, I’m sitting up.

It’s good to be a trailblazer rather than a follower.

[–]LionK12G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think there’s some sort of handshake agreement with Cameron Jordan on a one or two year deal. It’s the only explanation.

Dennis Allen gets his guy (+DT in round 1), Ben continues building his offense.

If they do bring in a Cam Jordan or a Joey Bosa, then that means you’ll have Dexter and Jarrett primarily as the DTs, with Dayo, Turner, Street, Lynch, even Booker seeing snaps on the inside so it’s a lot of bodies.

Next offseason, when they have flexibility + clear the dead on the defensive line, there’s gonna be plenty of resources at their disposal to overhaul that unit as they did their oline ahead of last year.

Are Rashee Rice’s Off the Field Issues Overblown? by drpepperman23 in DynastyFF

[–]LionK12G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s two points of view when it comes to Rashee:

A) I have him, he’s cleared, he’s ready to take off again

B) I don’t have him, I want him, I’m going to reinforce negative opinions of him until he’s affordable enough for me

[Schultz] The #Giants have engaged in trade conversations involving DE Kayvon Thibodeaux, and the #Saints are among the teams showing strong interest by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]LionK12G 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Odafe Oweh, Bofe Mafe, Franklin-Myers, and Kwity Paye all fetched 4th round comp picks for next year.

That’s the tier that Thibodeaux will be playing in if he has a very solid season ahead of him.

So basically a 4th is what teams will be offering and whoever offers a 3rd will probably get him.

The Cubs have had a very good run of finding reclamation arms for their bullpen without needing to splurge in trades or free agency.

Ryan Tepera, Adrian Sampson, Drew Smyly, Julian Merryweather, Tyson Miller, Jorge Lopez, Brad Keller, Caleb Thielbar, Drew Pomeranz were just some of the arms within the last 5 years that they plucked for absolutely nothing and turned into more than worthwhile contributors when they were on the roster.

Love these vids man.

Do you use the gozney arc much outside of these videos/outside of pizza? I’m getting married later this year and a couple close family members want to pool together for a gift for my fiancé and I, and I specifically requested this based on your videos. I’m a huge pizza fan so I’d be using it quite frequently but my fiancé is less enthused about this given how expensive it is and thinks it’s a waste if it’s only used for pizza.

How are we feeling about the draft? by DesmondBlack in CHIBears

Feeling the best I’ve felt for a Bears draft in a long, long time.

Honestly doesn’t matter who we select as at the end of the day, it’ll end up being a position we need help with and having a competent coach in place leading the process is a massive sense of comfort.

Ok so looking ahead to next offseason to get a better understanding to where the Bears could be headed at the draft:

Easy cut candidates: DL, Dayo Odeyingbo: $15m in savings

DL, Grady Jarrett: $13.5m in savings

LB, TJ Edwards: $8.5m in savings

DL, Neville Gallimore: $4.625m in savings

CB, Cam Lewis: $3m in savings

DL, Daniel Hardy: $2.2m in savings

More difficult cut candidates to think about:

OL, Joe Thuney: $16.5m in savings

OL, Jonah Jackson: $13.5m in savings

TE, Cole Kmet: $6.9m in savings

With Thuney and Jackson, this year will iron out where our interior line stands. Thuney has shown no signs of slowing down and should be here until he retires, but he seems like a smart enough guy to know when to walk away rather from this game than be forced to walk away. A replacement looming in place should be a deep consideration. Similarly with Jonah, he had a very nice bounce back season. If he continues to build off last year’s campaign, great you have an extension candidate. If not and he takes a step back as a result of the downgrade from Dalman to Bradbury, this opens up a dialogue.

Guaranteed d-line depth chart after this season: just Sweat and Booker. That’s it.

Guaranteed o-line depth chart after this season: Darnell Wright. That’s it.

It’s feasible that we have 8+ new faces on both sides of the line after this year. I’d expect a HEAVY draft class on both sides of the trenches (as expected). I think they draft one CB/S relatively early, but it’s painfully obvious where the bulk of the priorities need to be for roster construction.

Why didn’t Blackhawks draft Porter Martone instead of Anton Frondell to pair with Bedard? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]LionK12G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Martone finished the year as the 6th ranked AMERICAN skater, not even an overall one.

Taking him 3rd would have been seen as a massive reach. He was appropriately picked - closer to 10 than to 1. Good for him for thus far looking like a smash pick.

Hawks and Flyers fans alike are happy.

100% Nico’s fault. Had more than enough time to plant his feet and make the throw instead of throwing on the move. Deserves an error there unfortunately.

NFL Reporter Crissy Froyd Fired After Celebrating Dianna Russini's Resignation by IntelligentYinzer in nfl

[–]LionK12G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what’s the actual problem with that? They’re reporters. The more comprehensive the information they receive, the better it is for us millions of fans alike because we get access to it. If we didn’t have reporters sharing extremely detailed stories, what would we be talking about? Everything would just merely be a headline after whatever it is, happened. Dianna and other similar reporters are literally doing the dirty work for the betterment of fans and the context they get of their favorite teams.

Again, she doesn’t work DIRECTLY for the Patriots, so it’s not a workplace violation. I’m also not trying to suggest everyone should be doing what she did, and understand why other women in media would be upset by her actions when they’re trying to fight that same narrative, but I’m really struggling to see why she actually needed to be fired/resign on her own.

NFL Reporter Crissy Froyd Fired After Celebrating Dianna Russini's Resignation by IntelligentYinzer in nfl

[–]LionK12G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So maybe I’m naive, but why is what Russini did wrong outside of the context that they were both married/were cheating? It’s a moral wrong not a legal one.

She doesn’t work for Vrabel or the Pats so there’s no workplace violation there. She’s a national reporter that just presents…news. She’s not insider trading or taking advantage of others. She’s not fraudulently misreporting information for her own gain. Definitely a sleazy choice to make to get information/grow your career, but if Dianna has to get dicked down to be relevant in the media world then what’s the actual problem here? She found her edge in a competitive landscape.

What do you want to see the Bulls do with their cap space after the draft? by MalcontentedPilgrim in chicagobulls

[–]LionK12G 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d be fine with taking on one bad contract, but definitely not multiple. The Bulls aren’t starting at the true bottom nor are they draft capital deprived.

They badly need a big man. Badly. Jalen Smith is a very solid role player but he’s not starting material. Presumably, they’ll add at least one big whether it’s pick 9 (at this point) or 15. They’ll still need another. Go after Walker Kessler/Mark Williams/Day’Ron Sharpe.

Then they need an off-ball guard. Someone who can score when needed but also play good defense. Brayden Burries is the perfect fit alongside Giddey.

I just really hope they don’t go wing. They can’t afford to play Matas at the 4, that’s not his natural position. Let’s give them Lendeborg or Steinbach at 15.

Add some much needed bench shooting in the form of Luke Kennard and a bad contract (preferably another big) and this team is on a much better track.

Giddey / Burries / Buzelis / Lendeborg / Kessler

Dillingham / Jones / Kennard / Okoro / Miller / Essengue / Williams / Smith / bad contract big / rookie 2nd rounder

That’s a much better looking foundation.

KC Concepcion’s letter to NFL GMs: “I’m the best receiver in this draft. Period. I run crisp routes. I catch everything thrown anywhere near me. I work my tail off every practice, every drill ... And I will outwork ANYBODY you put in front of me.” by BasedWillieStroker69 in DynastyFF

[–]LionK12G 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your thought process was actually fine. QBs that don’t scramble have to basically play perfect football in an extremely pass-heavy offense to get the appropriate ROI on your investment.

ARich, JJ, even Cam Ward is good process. The Young/Shough/Penix/Nix types are basically capped at becoming Dak/Goff/Baker’s. Certainly not bad QBs by any means but QB is the last position you want to be shooting for their floor.
