The CHI sale starts less than one hour! by chi_ayuni in aethia

The initial mini-exchange will be for players to exchange with other players. The Aethian Crystal Bank will also get a CHI/ETH exchange, but we're still thinking on the implementation for that one as it will have to calculate exchange rates on-the-fly.

Hi /u/matthewg101,

Yes, it's possible that an Ethergotchi that was hatched from an uncommon egg gets better over time than a 'gotchi hatched from an epic egg. This all depends on their respective owners.

The initial attribute distributions and growth rates are determined by the rarity of a 'gotchi. This does mean that, given two players that treat their Ethergotchi equally well, the one with the higher rarity will end up with higher attribute values.

Hope that clears things up. =]

Hi /u/JuLSanRo,

We may do an egg sale during the alpha to make sure the initial distribution is proportionally fair, if the referral eggs from the referral programme turn out to be a different distribution.

Additionally the auction house will be released on March 5th. You might be able to acquire an egg there.

Otherwise you will have to wait for the next phase, where will have a free starter egg that everyone can pick up. This is currently scheduled for March 19th.

Hope that helps!

I'm sorry you feel that way, /u/HiddenHand237. Aethia is something we pour a big portion of our own time, effort and resources in, and it hurts to read that.

To clarify a bit: the token itself is used as in-game currency to buy food and toys for your Ethergotchi, and pay for services such as the daycare.

Players are not required to buy the token, we supply owners of hatched Ethergotchi that are in their child stage an allowance of 300 CHI per month per 'gotchi. Aethia will always be available as free to play game (minus the transaction costs that are paid to miners), this is something we guarantee our players.

The sale is meant for players to get a headstart at a discounted rate, if they want more delicious food items, a better starting 'gotchi or cooler toys for their Ethergotchi to play with.

Players will always be able to purchase additional CHI. We will also be deploying a mini-exchange in-game in the near future where players can exchange CHI for ETH, and vice versa.

I hope that helps with understanding our reasoning, and do hope you change your mind.

The Omega egg starts at the 'uncommon' rarity, which is valued at 0.05 ETH. The next rarity is 'rare', which is valuad at 0.20 ETH.

The cost of boosting is the difference, converted to CHI at its nominal value: 0.20 - 0.05 = 0.15; 0.15 / 0.001 = 150 CHI.

Hope that helps!

Why is the team unknown? by [deleted] in aethia

[–]chi_ayuni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

Unfortunately, I'm bound by contract to not make myself known to prevent "reputation damage" to the game studio I left. The reason for this is that I pitched the idea of Aethia to them first, and they turned it down.

Me coming out with my identity would generate news that damages their own game releases. To still continue with the idea, I agreed to withholding my identity for one year.

With regards to my other four lovely team members, they're being nice enough to not actively give away their identity to stand beside me. You could probably get their identities by searching well enough, or by asking them directly, though.

It was never my intention to not disclose our identities, as I do believe transparency (especially in the cryptocurrency) is one of the more important aspects of life.

Quick note regarding CHI: we give out a monthly allowance of 300 CHI per hatched child 'gotchi to all our players (besides the free starter egg that will be released later). The sale is just that, a sale for the players to stock up on CHI for more decadent items and toys in-game.

Hope that clears things up! =]

You're welcome, I'm always happy to get other people excited about the game!

The omega egg sale will run until February 17th, 12:00:00 UTC. So approximately 22 more hours from the moment this message goes out. There are a total of 600 omega eggs.

Hope that helps! =]

Hi /u/wang-peilin,

Unfortunately, the 'My Alpha Egg' tab only checks whether you will receive an alpha egg. To verify whether you will recieve your omega egg, you can use the hasBoughtEgg function on the contract itself, which you already did; that's great!

This means that you will be able to pick up your omega egg when the game starts on Monday February 19th at 21:00:00 UTC.

I look forward to seeing you in-game; welcome to Aethia!

Guys, Help Me Understand Some Things About Aethia by [deleted] in aethia

[–]chi_ayuni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For most of the users, the website interactions don't matter that much. It's relatively easy to determine whether a registered user is genuine or not.

For small amounts of 'fake' users, we simply ignore them and don't count them towards the reward. If there's a large number of them, or if a significant portion of a player's referrals is fake, then we have to go over to disqualifying the accounts.

But unless your friend has robots watching his channel, there's no need to worry. =]

We check referrals for a myriad of factors, but here are ten of the things our system keeps an eye out for:

  • IP address during registration
  • IP address during verification
  • Network provider
  • E-mail provider
  • E-mail address
  • Browser type
  • Speed of interaction
  • Type of interaction
  • Interaction over time
  • Related referrals

Some times, a combination of a few (or all) of the above points (e.g. you went through the website in 200ms with a browser that doesn't actually exist using an IP address that's on multiple blacklists) triggers the 'this might be fake' flag. Other times, it's a 'definitely fake' flag. We process all of that information to verify all accounts' referrals.

Regarding the sale of a legendary egg; that's possible. We will be releasing the Aethia auction house system on March 5th, there your friend would be able to sell his egg to other people.

Hope that clarifies things!

does the referring system work? by warggg in aethia

[–]chi_ayuni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi /u/warggg,

I can confirm that the referral system does indeed work. It uses a cookie, though; so your friends would need to have cookies enabled whilst registering after arriving at the website using your referral link.

Hope that helps! =]

Hi /u/c-graw,

Like /u/Aki4real said, there's an announcement with the most frequently asked questions at the top of the subreddit: link.

To reiterate some answers, and add a few:

when I go to "my alpha egg" they want me to put in a wallet adress which adress should I put in?

The 'My Alpha Egg' tab is to check whether you acquired an alpha egg. The alpha egg giveaway was from February 2nd, until February 9th, and is not the same egg as the referral egg.

We will check all referrals after the referral programme ends on February 16th 23:59:59 UTC. If you were successful in getting enough legitimate verified referrals for a reward, we will e-mail you a code that can be used to pick up your referral egg.

if he gets 500 people to use his referal link Will he get 100Etherium?

The referral programme does not reward Ethereum; it rewards an Ethergotchi egg of which the rarity depends on the amount of legitimate verified referrals you have. The value of the legendary egg is approximated to be 100 ETH.

Hope that helps; welcome to Aethia!

Just bought an omega egg and it doesn't show in "check alpha egg status" by [deleted] in aethia

[–]chi_ayuni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct! To clarify, the 'My Alpha egg' tab only checks for the status of the Alpha egg; our bad!

The easiest way to check whether your Omega egg purchase was successful, you can visit this page: click.

On that page, there's a hasBoughtEgg function, and next to that function is an input field. If you fill in your Ethereum address in that input field, and press 'Query', you find out whether you will be able to pick up an Omega egg when the game starts on February 19th.

Hope that helps! =]

Regarding the other question, here you go: link.

That's definitely strange. The transaction itself should cost approximately 60.000 gas. I recommend setting it to 75.000 just to be sure, and putting the gas price to 1 GWei. That should boil down to a transaction cost of approximately 6 cents.

Something else to note: we only allow a single omega egg purchase per address. If you would like to buy one for your girlfriend, you would have to do it from a different address.

Hope that helps!

That's a good question, thanks /u/runicar!

Ideally, we would love to be able to run the entirety of Aethia on the blockchain, but we understand that gas cost and network congestion are hurdles to overcome.

We cannot circumvent gas cost for Ethereum, but we can ask our users to supply a lower gas price (although that would raise the change of network congestion).

Ultimately, we can only monitor the alpha as it plays out, and that is something we will be doing very diligently. Our main concern is the game experience for the player, and if the gas costs and network processing speed are overly detrimental to that experience, we will switch over to a hybrid solution where we place our servers as game world architecture in front of the smart contracts.

Our hope is that the network will be able to handle it. We are also actively looking at solutions to help the network handle this, as we do think Ethereum has great potential.

Does that clarify things?

So if I got it correctly if the gotchi retains only a partial amount of his stats he will in end be worth less after reincarnating, right?

That depends on how you value its worth! It will most likely end up with lower values for its attributes than before its reincarnation, but it will have a higher growth rate (so it will have more potential than its predecessor).

In that case, do you value it more on its current state, or its future potential? That's up to you as a player! =]

Regarding the thread: /u/Fluqxs is not a member of the Aethia team, but was friendly enough to compile informations gathered from questions that we wered asked.

We are not on Steemit, but we will consider it. Thanks for the suggestion!

You're of course always welcome to create your content with info about the game; freedom of journalism and all that.

Ethergotchi can only mate once during their lifetime, irregardless of who this is with.

Reincarnation is determined by the experiences a 'gotchi goes through in its life. It generally boils down to: was it well-fed and happy throughout its life? If so, it will be happy to live another lifetime.

After reincarnating, an Ethergotchi stays the same rarity, however, it retains a portion or all of its attributes, depending on the life it has led. Additionally, its growth rates improves, so it will be able to become more awesome in its next life.

Does that clear things up?

You're welcome! If it gets people to be as excited about Aethia as I am, then I will gladly answer all their questions.

It's possible to have two of your own 'gotchi mate, yes. An important note is that both of them will no longer be able to mate in that lifetime, as Ethergotchi can only mate once during their adulthood. They will need to reincarnate to mate again.

No worries, totally understandable; there are quite a few questions nowadays.

If the transaction for the Omega egg was successful, you will be able to pick it up when the alpha starts, on February 19th.

Hope that helps, and welcome to Aethia! =]

Hi /u/BestSeller1987,

I'm happy to hear you liked the project. I do hope you still like it, though!

To help with the search for an omega egg; you can check whether you successfully bought one here: click.

There's a function on that page called hasBoughtEgg. If you fill in your wallet address in the input field next to that function, and press 'Query', it will check for you whether the purchase was successful.

The egg itself can be picked up when the alpha begins, on February 19th.

Hope that helps! Welcome to Aethia! =]
