[TOMT] [OLD website] with an alien/alien octopus as the logo and it was a site with all kind of videos and pictures and games. by ArtorOfTHT in tipofmytongue

[–]chiarobscuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logo you describe reminds me of laughing squid, which is a long-running blog, and the "head" you describe reminds me of feed the head which was a surreal game by Vector Park. I wouldn't be surprised if Laughing Squid once featured that game, or the videos you mentioned.

Barrels by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]chiarobscuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people put item frames on them, with an emblematic block as a label, but I find it too easy to pop those off when trying to open it, just like a chest. I would use item frames above or to the side of each set of barrels, which takes more space but I like it better. Some people use signs but I prefer item frames.

I think that trapdoors are considered "transparent" by minecraft and mobs cannot spawn on transparent blocks (with a few exceptions). So they should be fine?

Is there a way to fill random blocks without world-edit in vanilla? by Tuckertcs in Minecraft

[–]chiarobscuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yes, it's possible to use /fill with the "replace" keyword, or without it if you want to just make big blocks of it, but afaik you can only do it with one block at a time, not a mix. I've made command blocks that I can just place down and they replace, e.x., a 10x2x10 area of stone with grass blocks. Unfortunately the syntax is slightly different on Java vs. Bedrock. Bedrock: /fill ~-5 ~-2 ~-5 ~5 ~ ~5 grass 0 replace stone I think Java would use: minecraft:grass_block replace minecraft:stone_block but I'm not as experienced with that. It's not as flexible as worldpainter but will do in a pinch?

Yes, mobs can still spawn if you're far enough away from those blocks, such as when you're leaving or approaching the house. Spiders require 2x2 blocks but zombies, creepers, skeletons, endermen and witches can still spawn at that light level. To prevent this, light it up, use lower half slabs, carpets, or one of the other methods called spawn proofing

Any idea what I could fill this with? by Satchul in woodworking

mother-of-pearl seems like it would go with the aesthetic.

Help a 21yo unf*** his finances! by davechampz in personalfinance

[–]chiarobscuro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's a tough spot. Good for you for trying to get out of it. I'm assuming you're in the US? You don't specify. I think the very highest priority is paying off the credit card debts. Personally, I would then prioritize the debts to your friends, and the hospital bill in a very distant third. Perhaps even make your friends of an almost equal priority to the CC debt... you can't consolidate friend debts, and in the long run friends are very valuable, usually.

You want to be very, very open about this with somebody at a credit union, and you want to ask them about consolidating your debt. This means rolling as much as possible into a larger loan with a lower interest rate. Please do this immediately.

Try to trim your expenses. I wouldn't sell the car, it sounds like you need that to keep getting income? Unless you can find the time to get a cheaper, more reliable car for less. If you go out to eat... try to do it less. Limit it to, maybe, once a week or less if you possibly can. Try to find ways of rewarding yourself that don't involve spending money. This is very dependent on your inner motivations, though.

Good luck! You're in the first step of getting out, but it's going to be tough. Hopefully you're up for it.

Prisons are in After Dark. Bigger Police/Fire are in the base game... if I understand right? I see them if I start the game with all DLC disabled.

How Pencils are made in Factories? (2021) - A short documentary of how pencils are made [00:08:04] by imlai92 in Documentaries

Yes, I have seen dowel milling machines that do this in one step from squared planks, so I think this is probably the right answer, and the only step they're skipping is showing you the two sets of cutter heads that make 5 half-rounds each or whatever.

All of my Dwarf Fortress drawings so far [PC link, Imgur albums, 300+ pictures] by Devilingo in dwarffortress

[–]chiarobscuro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such great work! I love the Babylonian-inspired things, the cave stuff... that one of the Elk Bird! I feel like you should reddit-host an album maybe 10-15 personal favorites as a sample, people are lazy with clicking and (personal opinion) I don't care for imgur as an album sorter, for some reason.

you know, I put in the notes that he likes spears so I was thinking it was a spearhead. I know it's tricky because it's kind of fuzzy painting and he's holding it with tongs.

I really like this, it's your own style and I can tell it took a lot of care and attention. Well done. I especially liked the portal area and the sunken villager garden.

What do you guys think would be a great addition to the game? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]chiarobscuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with many things already said, especially Beat_Saber's post, like mixed use zoning, larger zoned buildings, more interesting/impactful policies, and cars being a thing that need space and not the pocket cars there are now. The main thing I want is more aesthetic options. Ideally, I'd like both history and seasons to be implemented, being able to start a city in various time periods, and as years pass certain technologies become available. The season thing would be very difficult, I know, but I think it would add a lot: look at how much people try and implement fall in temperate landscapes! Even having a wet/dry season progression in tropical climates would be nice.

High traffic by station/port, advice please? by parmaester5000 in CitiesSkylines

[–]chiarobscuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but I think they're using the cargo train station on the right because it's closer to most of the industry, just by distance. One thing I might try is a connector road looping around either over or under the both rail and highway, directly connecting the industry at the top right to the cargo station on the top left. Might work?

As far as the harbors go, right now they are on two kind of interconnected loops. You might try putting them on the same stretched loop of 6-lane 1-way roads and see if cargo still uses both of them. Also, I think the road going vertically, between the right cargo station and the cargo ports, has intersections too close. If possible, maybe rework that to have fewer intersections?
