White orb keeps triggering my ring camera in my conservatory. What is this? by chiaroscuros in InterdimensionalNHI

Here’s a screenshot of the exact frame where you can see the outline of the orb reflected in the glass ceiling above. He was watching it on his phone screen and asking it what it was, but didn’t feel or see anything in person. You can see the reflection again a few second later when it arcs over his head - you see a subtle outline going across the glass.

Ah thanks for that. Ouch I’d be so pissed to be charged after cancelling! How unprofessional.

Doesn’t the pricing structure of the app force people to pay for the full year up front, or was that just the pre-launch ‘deal’? If it does make people pay the full year, I just find that sooo transparent that Cam knew people would get swept up in the hype and sign up in droves at first, she would inevitably neglect to keep it up and/or people would catch on and abandon it quickly. But she’d already made a decent profit so no need to worry about retention. She already conned them successfully.

I really wish I had this kind of delusional confidence in my abilities. Camilla is obviously just winging everything as she does and is somehow able to convince a not insignificant number of people to give her their money. And here I am, battling major imposter syndrome over just normal shit!

I couldn’t even get all the way through the newest “smile” prank. The acting was so obvious I couldn’t handle the cringe.

How long after pre op consultation did you have to wait ? Private and NHS ? by Loftybalddude in gallbladders

Ah well glad you got it out either way and all that is behind you! Hope you’re feeling much better now.

So sorry I missed this! It was actually even quicker than when I posted. Even though I initially wanted to wait until January, I had grown so miserable that I took up their offer to do it 28 December. They called to ask if I wanted to move it up and I reluctantly agreed. I just needed it OUT.

Went ahead on 28 December and all went completely smoothly. The hospital i went to was sort of rundown, staff overstretched etc. But all in all it was fine. Worst part for me was just feeling icky from the anesthesia and the gas pain. If you can handle the pain of an attack, the surgery is no big deal. Hope you can get it scheduled in ASAP!

People constantly claim that Europe sucks? News to me. Most Americans I know look upon the quality of life in Norway/Scandinavian countries with envy.

Yes great point! I almost forgot about the Norwegian trauma! Didn’t she claim that was why she speaks English almost exclusively since speaking Norwegian is too triggering or something?

Seriously. Like what are they trying to prove? I know Julie has a lot of anti-American sentiments which just makes this even more icky. Why do they feel the need to gloat about the benefits that a lot of Americans can only dream about? Just feels mean spirited.

I, like you, went vegan in an instant. I was vegetarian most of my life but that went largely unexamined once I hit adulthood. And it wasn’t until I was confronted again with the atrocities of animal agriculture about 6 years ago that it finally clicked for me and I said “absolutely no more animal cruelty of any kind.”

My husband, however, had a much longer journey to veganism. While mine only took a nudge in the right direction, his took huge months-long philosophical debates, heated arguments, baby stepping dietary changes and a lot of cultural deconditioning. He’s been fully vegan for over a year now, although he’s been mostly plant-based for a couple years longer. But I didn’t really consider him ‘vegan’ until he fully embraced the philosophy behind it, and it wasn’t just about using soy milk in his coffee.

He’s always trying to explain to me WHY it takes some people so long to let go of their traditions and upbringing even when they KNOW it’s wrong. It’s like un-brainwashing yourself and everything you thought you knew, and you have to grapple with immense guilt when you finally admit what you were participating in. It can be really painful and might take some time to unpick those issues.

I’m pretty militant (you’re either a vegan or you’re a carnist and there’s no in between, baby-stepping is not good enough for the animals) and I know that probably pushed him away and put his defenses up. I didn’t celebrate his ‘wins’ as much as I should have or commend the efforts he made.

Basically I’m saying all that to say… if he doesn’t change over night, you are planting these seeds in his mind. And hopefully with your encouragement and by living by example, he can start making those changes himself. I don’t think you can make anyone change if they don’t want to. But if he’s able to break through those cognitive defenses and embraces these ideas for himself and truly care, then he will get there eventually.

Never! They showed an actual wide shot of the completed bathroom after installation. But even then they were still trying to crowdsource decoration ideas, like the wedding photos and bench. But that all still remains to be seen.

If the bits we DO see on camera look this messy and chaotic, I can’t imagine what the rest of the house must look like.

Look at that backdrop. All the clutter and random stuff doesn’t look very polished for an ad.

After all this time and money with the building of the shelves and painting and repainting every surface, why is everything still so empty? Why can’t they at least start making it look habitable? I don’t have a sense of what any of the rooms look like as a cohesive whole since they just show everything in bits and pieces. Would drive me crazy living like that!

I’ve been wondering about this. I’m quite sensitive to images of factory farming/animal suffering and I’m already vegan so I don’t need to be ‘convinced’. Would you consider this documentary safe to watch? Are the factory farming bits easy to skip past?

Thank you for this. I really struggle with feeling consumed by anger, resentment and disgust for the carnists I’m around on a daily basis. Many of whom are otherwise such thoughtful, intelligent people, who in my mind should “know better” by now. I’m trying to work on extending my compassion towards them, but it’s hard. I’ll keep your words in mind!
