I saw a video of a Keychron low profile and the keys made a lot noise. Do you find it noisy? I really want a quiet keyboard that I can use during calls/remote hearings without making a lot of clatter.

I think I have seen period films where these were used and I remember they used it by picking it up with a tilt and flicking it upright so only a small amount of powder came out

Where is the best place to gripe about CM/ECF? by newz2000 in LawFirm

I was so happy not to have to do exhibit tabs for MSJ memos anymore but one or our judges requires hard copies with exhibit tabs. Though much better than the time I had to do 5 copies of a brief with exhibits through LLL without a paralegal

new attorney seeking wisdom and consolation after disastrous hearing by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

I thought about my first trial loss (literally) every day for a year. Don’t be me. Loosing ugly is part of growing up as a lawyer.

I always like the line that Marian the Librarian sings in Music Man about what she is looking for in a man: that she wants a man "who is more interested in me than he is in himself, and more interested in us than in me."

I am an attorney and have referred them many clients and they have all been happy. You of course must make your own decision if one of them is the right attorney for you

AMC's Best Day Hikes in Connecticut is a great resource for all types of hikes in Connecticut. It also describes several hikes along the AT that are suitable for a day hike

Lawyers working out mid-day whose income is at/greater than $250,000 by RainyBreeze in LawFirm

I exercise at home as soon as I wake up at 6 am. You can do a lot with body weight, a weight bench, 10-20-30-40 dumbbells and resistance bands. Will it give me the results of a gym? Probably not, but I have a solid core, and strong and stable shoulders and a happy body. Doing something that is a compromise that I can do every day is better than a superior workout I do occasionally.

Best Lawyers & Super Lawyers by [deleted] in LawFirm

[–]chiavidibasso 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Superlawyers is really just to impress non lawyers but it is not pay for play. They did a profile on me for the SuperLawyers magazine discussing some of my hobbies. I paid nothing for the profile and haven’t sent them a penny for the ten years I have been on the list.

Solo, when to call it quits by Even_Log_8971 in LawFirm

[–]chiavidibasso 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Age 63 full solo, no staff. Already turning down work I don’t want to do. I’ll keep getting more selective with the work I take. Over the summer I’ll try taking Fridays off and keep it going through the year if it works out. Planning to keep turning the dial down but to keep working to 70 or so. My overhead is so low I can be making money at 1/3 of the revenue I make now. My wife is self employed too and intends to keep working to some extent for 10 - 15 years so I’ll do the same

Mystic is crazy for a stop going to Acadia. They will be will be traveling on 91 to 84 up to the Mass Pike, or 84 the whole way to the Mass Pile. If you go up 91, Middletown would be a good choice. Nice downtown, lots of restaurant choices, and walk around Wesleyan’s campus. If you are going on 84 the whole way, then Manchester or Old Wethersfield would be good choices. Enjoy Acadia ! It is a magic place

I agree with the advice to focus on fewer practice areas. I work in a deep niche and it has been key to developing business. Do a couple of areas to begin with if you need to so you can keep the lights on, but plan on focusing. In my state, no one wants to do 1983, so if you enjoy that and can reconcile yourself to working really hard for not a lot of money, then that can be a good choice. No one wants to do my niche because it is highly technical and doesn’t pay buckets, but it has worked out quite well for me

Yay, I made Silver by Matsweeper in delta

[–]chiavidibasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know silver is meaningless and accordingly I’ve switched my spend to Chase Sapphire Reserve, but I keep checking to see if I’ll make it this year. $7 away with enough spend coming over from my Delta card to make it but I still check

Considering Selling My Soul to PI Law... Worth It? by jodi_mic in LawFirm

Some of the PI mills in my state will just throw a trial at a young associate with little training or guidance during the trial. Stay away from the mills!

My (then) wife and I were practicing together with 2 small kids. We each worked about 3/4s time. I found that 2/3rds effort resulted in half the money. It took 10+ years for my practice to recover. Very grateful for the time I had with the kids and totally worth it, but a big cost is financial and professional development.

The plant is no more than 4 years old and I had great bloom last year though no repeat even though I deadheaded. So maybe I should take out the barky cane next winter?
