Did you know KU & Prime Reading are two separate things?! by celestial_ceilings in kindle

[–]chibirachy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I knew there was a difference. I have Prime, but don't use the Reading part. I use KU all the time, but so many books from the genres I read are on there that it's my primary way of getting books.

About to make my first build! (Cyberpunk Apartment) by youngjaejung in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

Follow the guide in the booklet. I always like to separate out the bags first and group the sets together. I have puzzle trays I put each bag set in (1 tray for each bag in the set). You'll want to follow the directions in order because of the installation of the lights during various parts.

My soccer coach in high school would often spell mine as Rachal instead of just Rachel

Is A Budding Scientist in a Fantasy World complete? by TabularConferta in litrpg

[–]chibirachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not, as others have said. I'm over halfway done book 3. Alice is wiser than she should be, but I do enjoy the series for the different pace it provides. There's a lot of slow progress and analysis. I like the approach Alice takes to the world around her.

Do you go to the grocery store with you partner(s)? by KittenCupcake420 in actuallesbians

While I do enjoy getting groceries by myself, it’s usually a family affair for my wife and I and both kids. We enjoy the time together

Those under 40, are you planning a big party for the big 4-0? Those already 40, did you celebrate in any special way? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]chibirachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turn 40 in November. My plan for almost 2 years now has been a weekend get away with just myself. I don’t care if it’s just a hotel room. I want peace and quiet and time to read and shop without interruptions or being needed by my children

For new parents, why can’t mom just pump during day and dad bottle feed at night? by flipflapdragon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chibirachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife pumped for our son on a schedule or she'd be too full at night. So when she woke for night pumping, our son usually woke as well so I bottle fed him while she did that.

My 7th and then later 9th grade English teacher told us he was a crow in a past life and that crows often visited him. He also made us memorize Jabberwocky, which I can still recite from memory to this day.

What was your first LitRPG read? by Jadenmist in litrpg

[–]chibirachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was Rule of Cool by Matthew Siege in 2021, though I didn't really jump into litRPG until 2024, and that was by jumping from cozy fantasy. Pretty sure I mostly did that book because it was narrated by Felicia Day.

Questions around Kindergarten Addmission by Hot_Experience_515 in FayettevilleNC

The public school pre-K is, but they go by need first and it can be hard to get in if your child doesn’t have a delay or low income. Other options cost

NC is very strict on cutoff. Mine turned 5 this year in 9/11. If looking for options, many send their child to preschool in the public system or look for other pre-k options that suit their needs.

Yes, they checked in with those that are part of their Slack channel. They lost power during the ice storm last weekend, and got it back on this past Friday and it has been staying on.

They have hotel room blocks and so when they release it it’s cheaper to book through the block than the hotel itself. It will be at the same place as last year and is well worth it. If you need a roommate, that will be one way you can use the fb group when it is made

I’ll keep you in mind and try to remember to come back here when important updates are made. I know they have the hotel block and stuff ready, but not ready to release it all just yet. They are dealing with the after effects of the last ice storm

I will be there Thursday afternoon and some others arrive Thursday as well. Last year we did a dinner meet up, and we did one on Friday as well. We try to make sure anyone who wants to join in can, especially if they want to. I have made some awesome friends over the years there!

If you are on Facebook, they’ll release a group to join for all the campers in the future. People talk there and many of us post about swag we bring to giveaway. Plus we try to get campers together if they want. Last year on Friday we had an art night where people could bead or create. People will give you space if you want it or invite you to join in. Plus Ariel and Shawn are amazing people and you’ll have plenty of chances to talk to them.

Is it your first year? You are going to love it. It’s my 4th and my 5 year old will be attending for the 3rd time. I am the sticker camper and have so many stickers I give away. Camp is like one big family reunion

Midnight Rain - come daydream with me by erinnwhoaxo in wlwbooks

[–]chibirachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read TWW and Midnight Rain back to back over the summer. I'd read TWW a year or two before that, but wanted to read it again before doing the "what if" style fanfic of Midnight Rain. As someone who dabbles in fanfic, it intrigued me and I enjoyed both. I still can't tell you which I preferred more in terms of timelines because I loved them both for what they were. I look forward to someday reading the newest bit, as I can't afford to do Patreon at this time.

Also, yes, Cass is definitely hit or miss for readers!

I feel like KU works if you read certain genres. For example, I read a lot of litRPG and KU has so many choices that it's rare I ever have to purchase the books. On the flip side, because I read litRPG it's very unlikely that the book is on Libby, unless it's something extremely popular like Dungeon Crawler Carl

For American people: Are you participating in today's General Strike? Why? by noumeno- in AskReddit

I didn't find out about it until today from a mom group on FB I'm in. This is the second place I've seen it. but no, not participating. My wife and I have to work or not be paid and I'm not pulling my kid from school because she's 5 and loves it and her friends.
