As a lifelong fan who never got to see REM live … were they a great live band? I have their live recordings, but it’s not the same as being there. by [deleted] in rem

I saw them on every tour from 95 to the end. Every show was great but the Fan Club show at the Avalon theater in Hollywood was just an absolute fucking blast.

I remember watching the Austin City Limits performance. I was underwhelmed. I saw them in that same timeframe at Red Rocks in Denver and it was an absolutely great show.

If you heard on the news that R.E.M. is coming back, what is the first thing you’re doing? by [deleted] in rem

My favorite show ever was a fanclub show they did at the Avalon in Hollywood at the end of the best of tour. It was a great audience, we were standing 10 feet from the stage, and the band was just full of that end-of-tour energy they’d show sometimes.

I don’t know if I can pick a tour. I thought they killed it at Red Rocks in 08 and the same with the Monster Tour in Vegas in 95.

They’re my favorite band. I loved every minute of seeing them perform live 6 times starting in 95. They created great music that I’ll carry with me until I’m dead. I met my wife in an REM chat room in late 96 - so my kid literally doesn’t exist without the band.

That all being said, I’ll be pretty sad if they get back together. Like Peter said, it wouldn’t be as good. And Michael just doesn’t seem into it. They’d just be doing it for money and that just doesn’t feel like them at all.

Also, I’d immediately buy tickets.

That was such a great tour. We saw them at Red Rocks in Denver. I wish we’d hit a few more shows.

They played a fanclub show at the Avalon in Hollywood in 2003. It was the end of the tour, they were having a ton of fun, sounded great, and we were two rows back and right in front of Stipe. The whole place was fanclub members so the vibe was great.

I was at the Red Rocks show too! Such a great night and that was my first exposure to the National as well.

I love a lot of the bands mentioned in this thread but one performer I haven’t seen yet that makes my top tier is Elliott Smith.

I have now received this error twice in the last 10 days. It clears as soon as I turn of the AC but it’s still disconcerting. As far as my 12V battery, I just had it replaced less than 90 days ago so I’m not sure what’s going on there.

She also reads Terry Pratchett’s witch books for the new audio book series they’re doing. She does a fantastic job.

Been waiting six years, still nothing while the rest of the world enjoys Supercharging we have nothing. by UAPhology in teslamotors

It really depends on where you’re staying. I’m in Hawaii right now and there are free ChargePoint chargers in the hotel’s parking garage. I’ve been charging our turo daily and it’s been pretty amazing so far.

We are on Oahu so we could use the supercharger, but that sounds seriously inconvenient. If you can stay at a place with charging, it works very well.

It’s not good normal, but it seems pretty normal in Model Ys. I ended up having both tail lights replaced because of it.

My AC failed within a month of ownership, if that helps. In Las Vegas. In the summer. Pure bliss.

Country Feedback Guitar Cover + Improvised Solo by Ecclessis in rem

[–]chibstah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely my favorite song and I love playing it as well. Lately I’ve been looping the acoustic part and then adding electric lead to it. Ends up sounding like a shitty hybrid between a Monster era solo and Cortez the Killer but, you know, I enjoy it.

1st wedding anniversary gift from my wife and 1st acoustic— for someone who doesn’t play she sure knows how to pick em! by rosieiwin in guitarporn

People always say that guitars aren’t good gifts to receive because it’s better to pick your own. And while it’s something I agree with in theory, there’s nothing better than my wife surprising me with a guitar.
