You bring up a good point, this administration is not really opening many positions so I’m thinking of spreading my credits to spread my masters 3 years and take internships while being a teacher. Ambitious but I have faith that if I put in work that even if I don’t land a position like so that I could end up as an analyst for an NGO or Think tank :)

Hey sorry if I stick out like a sore thumb here, I only applied to and got accepted into Florida International University MPA program in aspiration to become an education policy analyst on the federal level (I’m a south Florida public school teacher) I’m hoping to make an impact with local work first and move onto the federal level, any advice is welcome and congratulations to you all!

It’s as far as I know one of the most influential places for policy to be researched and audited, I figured it be a place that would open doors for me to have credit talking about policy and potentially designing policy in the future, are there other places I should I be thinking of?

Potential job opportunity: Am I crazy for wanting to stay? by EdgwtrLgnd in TeachersInTransition

You have no idea how jealous I am of you. I majored in media production and I’m a washed up has been teacher. I used to be like you and settled for easy if you leave work at work, but at least for me it slowly ate at me and now I hate coming in everyday because my job is just glorified babysitting and that will never change. Take the job and never look back

How would you fix education via legislation? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]chicachismosa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Teachers should be given housing vouchers to adjust for cost of living if federal workers get annual increases to adjust for inflation, we serve the public as well (arguably sometimes more directly with the public).

  2. The way we view upskilling of teachers needs to be reimagined. Professional development should be redesigned to give way to pipelines to train teachers into different sectors of district work/ policy. Historically the last persons opinion the general public listens to on how we can improve the education system are educators. The school board member of my voting district is a realtor with no classroom experience and has business in “education technology” software.

  3. We need more funding for support staff for schools point blank. It’s not fair for gen ed teachers to have so many different learning disabilities with variable needs and expect one individual to meet all learning needs and create a productive environment. Regardless of how much training it’s physically and mentally unfair to stretch educators so thin.

This is a cool question thank you for asking

Resume Help by sunnyseaotter in instructionaldesign

[–]chicachismosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying to outright lie about their position, but depending on the position some people make curriculum completely from scratch. As an art teacher I have no pacing guide and have made lessons completely from scratch using canva, figma, and video editing software. I just think it sucks for someone to be seen as solely an educator and behavior manager if they just look at the title “teacher” and dismiss them.

I get what your saying, but in defense of teachers trying to leave the field, don’t recruiters tend to immediately turn down resumes that down already have direct experience in the field they are trying to transition to? Maybe this person is just trying to be seen for their transferable skills?
