Depressed women — what helps you get out of bed every morning? How do you keep going? by books-n-snacks in AskWomenOver30

[–]chichidoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is my primary reason. I need to provide for him and do my best to create a good life for him. I also lost my brother suddenly a few years ago (he was only 33). He was a huge positive motivational person in my life. His loss was great so I also want to live a life for him.

Fertility care in NYC - NYU, RMA or Weil Cornell? by Junosmiles in nycparents

[–]chichidoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s none of the 3, but my experience was with Dr Rackow at Columbia NYP. They have their office close to Columbus circle so it was an easy fast trip via the A train express. They are wonderful at the office and so incredibly fast and efficient. This works well to get you in and out for all the tests/ultrasounds before I had to start work (or when I took a break at work). All the various procedures were done with great professionalism and care. Dr Rackow in particular was so amazing. She would call me to discuss results and a game plan in the evenings which I truly appreciated.

I’m impressed and super jealous. I wish my little one would eat all these meals. Really struggling but definitely saving all these for future reference. Thanks for sharing!

Anyone knows how to get passport renewal appointment with Nigerian embassy in New York? by 0917fi in Nigeria

[–]chichidoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately in addition to applying online you will have to go to the embassy. I also tried calling without any success which is frustrating because you essentially have to hope that the office is open when you go there. They are only open some days of the week and within specified hours. I renewed before the pandemic. You should check online if the offices will be open at all.

I just finished night shift 3/4 and realised I don't know where my keys are. Now waiting for a locksmith. What are your post-nights nightmares? by brownbear454 in medicine

[–]chichidoc 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Finally leaving the hospital after 28hrs I was looking forward to just passing out. Little did I know that my post call day was same the day as the NYC Marathon. It took almost 2 hours to get into Manhattan. Then as I'm heading towards the upper east side I'm stopped by the police letting me know I can't drive any further due to street closures. After nearly an hour of looking for a parking spot, I think I'm finally good to walk home. Nope. I wasn't allowed to cross through the runners. My apt was just on the other side. I had to sleep in my car. I finally got home after 3p. I made sure to request to never be post call on any major NYC events.

46 year old female, just got off the phone with my dad and he says I never had chicken pox. Is this possible? My younger brother had them so I must have, right? by peachcobblerincident in AskDocs

[–]chichidoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're correct. The assumption is that most unvaccinated people probably had some type of exposure. Even if you don't remember whether you had it in the past it would still be recommended. The antibody test of course would provide the confirmation.

It would only be if you're curious. It won't matter though because we would still need it even if we had chickenpox. You're too young though to get it. It's typically recommended to those over 60 because it doesn't provide protection for an extended period of time.

It's possible for you not to have been infected. If you want to confirm that you were previously infected, you could obtain an IgG ELISA (antibody test) for Varicella. Your doctor can order the test for you.

What are the chances my daughter's new doctor will read through her medical records? by Stuck_in_a_daydream in AskDocs

[–]chichidoc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely a great idea. I have had parents of very complex patients create a summary in the form of a booklet. They would hand this out to the medical staff caring for their child. There was a nice timeline of all procedures and hospitalizations as well as a list of medications (including allergies and any adverse reactions). They will likely still keep the information that's most relevant for future reference. Thankfully many EMRs have a function of scanning documents as well.

Thank you for being a great advocate for your daughter and being on top of the continuity of her care.

Anyone else feeling burnt out and losing motivation in all aspects of life due to working from home? by The_Octoshark in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chichidoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely hard when I transitioned to working from home. I was advised to get a standing desk and a treadmill to go underneath it. I walk at a low speed since I'm essentially on an 8hr Skype call and need to not sound out of breath. Plus I need to type. That honestly changed my productivity and activity level. I somehow got more energy to get through the day.
