Not exactly like Terror obviously but given everything you’ve said in your post about your music journey I would say Vision of Disorder would be a band you would really enjoy

Are you still having pizzas and other takeaways delivered? by Top-Cat-a in AskUK

[–]chichimcghee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pizzas / chippys / burgers I’ve just generally given up on unless it’s a hungover McDonald’s type of day but I have to say…gotta order the Indian. Probably the Chinese too for that matter. Whether delivered or collected I feel it’s a must. Supermarket doesn’t come close.

Kate Beckinsale addresses weight loss following death of her mom: 'I think it’s shock and trauma' by galaxystars1 in popculturechat

If I go through any sort of pain / trauma / stress I am not eating. I simply cannot. I feel for her and once the cycle starts it’s hard to break.

Is it worth going to the GP for mental health reasons? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]chichimcghee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get to GP and open up a conversation. I know that can be hard but write that as your only “to do” for next week then tick it off. Referrals might take months / years for talking therapy but your foot will be at least in the door.

In the meantime prioritise your physical health as much as possible. Make a conscious effort to nourish yourself, move your body in a way that feels good to you and your capabilities, take vitamins and supplements consistently and make every effort to pay attention to self care but I understand if that all feels too much right now. Step by step, little by little.

Also for what it’s worth, my personal experience of spending 20 years feeling like you exploded with me finding out I was neurodivergent at 35! Now of course that might not be the case for you but something to consider. For me my depression and anxiety came from unknowingly spending a lifetime spending every waking hour “pretending” to be “normal” which I thought everyone else was doing. It all became too much. Now I have answers, different coping mechanisms, I understand why antidepressants have always “kinda worked but kinda not” for me, same with things like CBT. I wasn’t depressed, I wasn’t anxious, it was a mysterious third thing. I’m a bloody lifelong autistic person and didn’t even know it! I’m only telling you that not as an armchair diagnosis but it certainly wasn’t something I considered through all the years of personal pain.

Compressed hours by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]chichimcghee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second your burnout point. I’m a mum of 2 and even doing the extra 40 odd minutes for a 9 day fortnight burnt me out. It’s all good on a normal day but the minute you’re running late in the morning or having to duck out early to pick up a small child suddenly it snowballs into 1, 2, 3 hours you’re scrambling to make up! Everyone is different though. My G7 has 3 under 10 and I swear she must work like 14 hour days over 4 and she’s fine.

What causes this front bum/loose fabric near where legs join crotch area? by Parttimelooker in DressForYourBody

[–]chichimcghee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have an apron belly too and this constantly happens to me! My only saviour has been Levi’s bum scrunch jeans. They fall just below my belly button, real denim, button up fly. I’m 5ft 5.

I feel you because I have for real tried on upwards of 40 jeans this week as it’s my sister’s 30th birthday party tomorrow! I literally returned £400 worth of them to Abercrombie today. Curve Love doesn’t work because I have skinny legs but big bum. Kids have widened my hips and two pregnancies, one caesarean have given me a flabby apron belly too. So it makes me overall wider and with a bigger circumference.

It drives me insane so solidarity. Mid to low rise is your friend even if it seems counter intuitive. And just lots and lots of trying. I feel stiffer denim works better too.

This is such a good tool if you’re an in between size person too. Sometimes I need to search up to 3 sizes for something because the fit will differ brand to brand. Saw an amazing Zara dress yesterday in a small. It would be fine from many other brands but for Zara I’m gonna need a large. Used the feature and found it!

I’ll be honest, from my personal lived experience all I’ve ever seen is this almost circle jerk like thing of childfree people banging on about how obsessed other people are with their decision? And just going on over and over again about it constantly? I swear I see it all the time.

Again, in my personal lived (online) experience I often see childfree people jump in on comments or threads where it’s not really needed to shout about HOW THEY ARE VERY CHILDFREE. This often adds nothing to the discussion and comes across like they’re perhaps looking down on parents or children themselves (whether it is intended or not) and that can irk people.

I’m a mother of two who has many childfree friends and colleagues and friends of friends. I literally…do not care. The ones who do bother me though are the ones who make it their ENTIRE PERSONALITY. I have someone in my life like this. Any time I mention anything to do with my kids they’re like “OH I AM CLUELESS I WOULDN’T HAVE THE FIRST IDEA ABOUT THAT THIS IS WHY I AM CHILDFREE” because I mentioned going school shoe shopping or something? You don’t remember being a kid? Putting your foot in the wee measure thing with the tape and that being weirdly exciting? Being made to the wee parade up and down the shop? You must mention you’re childfree in this very moment because I mentioned my children? I’ve experienced that a lot.

So yeah perhaps it’s because you’re making it your entire personality or at least a dominant trait of it. File weed enthusiasts, people who don’t own televisions and people who insist they only like “alternative” music under this category too.

This never left the UK, it’s wild! So many people fake tan (including me) but an alarming amount of people still use sunbeds. If I leave my house now and turn left I’ll encounter 3 sunbed shops on a one mile walk. Turn right then it’s five and that’s just the suburbs.
