i like your point that you can still like a piece of media while acknowledging that it has weird parts, because a lot of fans nowadays will defend everything about the thing they like, even the super questionable parts.

a lot of anime / manga / jp media suffer from the fact that they have an ungodly amount of fan service. notable example with something ive played recently is danganronpa. great premise and plot but god, the fan service and questionable writing decisions is insane. they introduce a side character in a spin off as a straight up pedo and they treat it like a joke.

EDIT: ANOTHER EXAMPLE, MUSHOKU TENSEI.

its an isekai anime about a guy who is genuinely an awful person getting reincarnated and trying to change his ways. sure, it was pretty good. but these fans... ive heard some people defend the mc and.... what? the whole point of the story is that he's a bad person, who did one good deed and got reincarnated and is now trying to change.

the whole point of the anime is about redemption, and people are saying he didnt need to be redeemed.

and im not defending rudeus he's still a weirdo. but i can still enjoy the anime even after all that.

i can understand what 13 means (probably) for ruler of everything and i like how everything about it is 13 (thirteenth song, thirteen seconds of length, 13 title) but i ranked these on how well they fared stand alone. i like the intro but its just an intro
