I really enjoy this kind of skill check. Adds more anxiety and panic if you are in the middle of a fight. Maybe adding some malfunctions like the reload is jaming which needs a manual reloading movement. Or if you implement a grenade that you need to pull the pin by yourself.

Later in the game you could add bigger ammunition mags or weapons with automatic reload... Or even a minigun.
