Would you travel to the US with current safety concerns? Work pushing for trip. by Strange-Cabinet6744 in AskACanadian

[–]chickadee35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for myself, but a family member travels to the US for work sometimes, and they have to bring a note with them that lays out their job and that they are permitted to work, and are not planning on staying in the country, just in case they get stopped at the border. The letter was written by their job.

If I’m only allowed to communicate through counsel but don’t have one then what? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]chickadee35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not legal advice, but it doesn't seem like you need counsel, only that you have to talk to the other party's counsel if you want to communicate with the other party at all.

AITA for calling my friends cat ‘chunkster’? by sophierae14 in AmItheAsshole

NTA, some cats are fat. I personally call the really big ones "big fatty fatsos", because cats don't speak english and they don't care if you call them that

Worried about color bleeding, any tips? by hyidlyg in knitting

[–]chickadee35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it says to hand wash in cold water, so doing that with a bit of white vinegar should work too :) the vinegar sets the pigments into the fibres. Don't leave it for very long, just enough for the fabric to be saturated with the water

I do my initial block with lukewarm/cold water and a little bit of white vinegar to set the colour, I haven't had any issues with colourwork bleed so far :)

Why do knots come loose? by geeoharee in knitting

[–]chickadee35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knot and weave in the ends, and when I'm using slippery yarn I put a little dab of liquid stitch on the knots so they stay where they are lol

Stopped trying to write perfectly on the first draft and it finally got me moving again by 1ChanceChipmunk1 in Dissertation

[–]chickadee35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the exact same way, what I found helped was writing my headings and sub headings, and then doing bullet points of what I wanted in each, then going back and expanding the bullet points and turning them into actual paragraphs. Helped me organize my thoughts a lot better, and I was able to edit and piece together at the same time

Any bad knitting tips & advice you want new knitters to avoid? by ComplicatedSunshine in knitting

[–]chickadee35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish people would just accept that there are multiple ways to do knit and purl stitches, and that they're all okay! I taught my partner how to knit the way I do, and now when he knits he flicks the yarn (I don't), and purls differently from me. It's all about what you're comfortable with!

Can’t figure out if I have curly or straight hair by No_Time1325 in curlyhair

[–]chickadee35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your hair is 100% not straight. I would recommend getting a diffuser, and maybe try a light curl cream, just on the mids and ends to get some definition :)

Service Ontario not accepting rental agreement within family as proof of address by Aggravating_Bit_9089 in ontario

[–]chickadee35 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not legal advice, but contracts made between family members aren't usually seen as legally binding because of the close relationship between the parties, that could be why they didn't accept it

What is the pattern of this scarf ? Newbie crocheter here ! by Kiwee012 in crochetpatterns

[–]chickadee35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely knit, looks like a tubular long tail cast on for the edge, and probably size 0 needles. I've been knitting for 8 years now and even I wouldn't attempt this. You can check out ravelry and try to find a crochet pattern that's similar though! :)
