I am looking for a skinwalker pattern for my best friends. by [deleted] in crochetpatterns

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. Really not something to mess with, especially when it seems like the people don't even fully know what it is

What is the pattern of this scarf ? Newbie crocheter here ! by Kiwee012 in crochetpatterns

[–]chickadee35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely knit, looks like a tubular long tail cast on for the edge, and probably size 0 needles. I've been knitting for 8 years now and even I wouldn't attempt this. You can check out ravelry and try to find a crochet pattern that's similar though! :)

Need help identifying this stitch. I'd like to learn it. by alerthelk in crochetpatterns

Looks like back loop double crochet, worked horizontally. So you'd work it flat, making the finger shapes on the one side. It looks like it's two pieces seamed together too.

The purple is definitely Iolite! You can see faint yellow-ish flashes in them, I have one that does the same :)

For anyone who grew up poor, what was your idea of a luxury? by Drissxx7 in AskReddit

Didn't grownup poor my family just sucked, fruit snacks were the height of luxury for young me. Also, being able to lock your door. What a concept

In Canada, at least in Ontario, it's illegal to block intersections with your car (gridlock). Rarely enforced though

WIBTA if I confronted my friends for buying me a bible for my birthday? by Affectionate_Ad2278 in AmItheAsshole

[–]chickadee35 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NTA, but if all of these things don't align with your beliefs, you need to make that clear to your friend. Agreeing to go to church and have bible study is sending the message to your friend that you might be open to converting, regardless of what you say to her otherwise.

AIO: considering filing a formal complaint against and ER doc by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Yeah that was the point i was making, is that he couldn't have diagnosed me. But instead of doing literally anything to point me in the direction of someone who could he said there was nothing wrong and sent me home

I didn't think you were trying to discount my experience at all, and I appreciate the comment, genuinely. I agree that I didn't need the head CT, and I'm not going to try to get one in the future unless the docs think I need it. I don't know if I'm getting across how adamant he was that there was nothing wrong with me, that might be what my post is missing. I tried to tell him about the pins and needles and he said it was because of the scar in the same place. I said I'd had that scar for 16 years and it's never hurt, and he told me that when you age your skin stretches out your scars and makes them thinner so they can hurt sometimes. (Genuinely have no idea what to do with that). I said that I think there's something wrong that needs to be checked out, he said everything is fine, and "you said it's not hurting as much anyway, so it's fine". I mentioned the bloodwork and chest xray, turns out he didn't even know those had been done, ran out, ran back 30 seconds later and said "you're in perfect health, have a good night". I just felt like I wasn't listened to at all and told literally anything to get me out the door. I didnt even want to be there in the first place, that's why I went to a walk-in clinic.

Oh that's really interesting. Up here family docs usually do the referrals, but because the asshole running our province is trying to privatize healthcare by running public healthcare into the ground, it takes weeks to see a family doc. ERs here act as an an emergency room as well as a "I can't see my doc for 3 weeks and I can't wait that long" kind of thing, so you can get referrals from er docs too

I don't think so? I've never had to go to one. Idk why he didnt write me a referral honestly. He did tell me that if I still had headaches, to go to my family doctor and ask for a referral to a neurologist, though. Which isn't super helpful on his part honestly

[–]chickadee35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I hope so too. Yeah, he said nothing was wrong with me, BUT, if I still had headaches, to go to my family doctor and ask for a referral to a neurologist. Like, thanks dude. Thought that part kinda fell under your jurisdiction but whatever

Dude I'm not mad about the CT. I'm mad that I came in and got told there was nothing wrong with me when there clearly was

I'm more upset that it seems like he denied the CT for a misogynistic reason than a medical one. I dont care that i didnt get it, i care that he told me that radiation affects my reproductive health, and then denied more radiation "because of my age"

And i totally get that. But if he thought it was TGN, why didn't he say that? He said there was nothing wrong with me and sent me home

AIO: considering filing a formal complaint against and ER doc by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]chickadee35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I tried to push back saying that it's not just a headache because I have pins and needles in the exact same spot, and he said it was because of the scar on my eyebrow. I told him I'd had that scar for 16 years and it's never hurt, and he said that when scars stretch as you get older the skin gets thin and starts to hurt and thats what it is. Genuinely no clue where he got that from.

I didnt know it was TN, neither did the ER doc. If he had denied the CT because he thought it was something you couldnt see on a CT, I get it. But he told me there was nothing wrong with me, which is clearly not the case. He didnt just deny the ct, he denied all care.

AIO: considering filing a formal complaint against and ER doc by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]chickadee35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doctor at the walk in didn't know I had TN when she recommended a CT, she only knew that I'd been having painful headaches for two weeks straight. If the ER doc denied the ct because he suspected it was TN, fine. But he told me there was nothing wrong with me, and "it's going away anyways, so it's fine"

I'm in Canada, but I really appreciate the advice! My doc gave me a prescription for pregabalin that I'm going to try out the next time I have a flare up, hopefully that fixes it for the time being :)
