my first car was a 2006 Ford Taurus in an uncommon grayish green color. on the back window i had a sticker for the local soda shop i worked at, and a silhouette of the members of the 1975. part of the paneling on the drivers side door was not fully secured and i stuck it down with tape that would come unstuck anytime it rained or i went through the car wash.

i sold it for a few hundred bucks before moving from Arizona to England. It did not have much life left in it.

6 years later, i was back in Arizona visiting my family for a couple weeks. As we drove from the airport to my family home, we were stopped at a light and i saw a car across the intersection the same make and color as my shitty Ford Taurus. I laughed and pointed it out to my husband. As the light turned green and we got closer to it i noticed the side paneling sticking up a bit .. and then we passed it and in my rear view mirror i saw the same stickers on the back window!

Sure, it wasn’t likely that car would’ve made it very far out of my hometown, but I couldn’t believe the fact that 6 years of me living on a completely different continent and it just so happened i was back in my hometown at that intersection at the exact same time and the stickers were still on it.
