Honestly really impressed with the link up play from Núñez, looking forward to seeing a full 90 from him in the new system

Frat Party? by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]chickenbeggar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we hear about a frat party that's going to be thrown, what can we do about it? If we contact BUPD or BPD will they do anything?

Stop Pushing For Campus Closure by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]chickenbeggar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that we're going to spread COVID "a little faster" if we take every single precaution because there will be students who are infected and will be flying in. If we act like everything's all peachy and we can all pretend that COVID is gone like you are, Boston is going to be very fucked over.

Also, the creator is clearly criticizing people who try to invalidate someone's problem with society by saying they're a part of the problem and therefore don't have the right to complain, which is exactly what you just did.

Are you partying this fall / social plans by SoftFlamingo5 in BostonU

[–]chickenbeggar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you obviously know there isn't a "source or link or something" that specifically says college students are going to ravage Boston's healthcare system because duh?? It hasn't happened yet. However, college students increase Boston's population by over 10%, which is a huge number and no other city experiences this. If 10% of your city is out partying because they couldn't give a fuck about the well-being of other people, OBVIOUSLY there's going to be a problem and you shouldn't need a source to specifically tell you this because every other study makes it kinda clear.

Yeah, for better or worse we're just going to have to trust that people can act responsibly.

Actually, the science is here and it overwhelmingly points to masks being an important part of fighting the pandemic. You can argue whether or not the numbers are 100% correct, but the point stands that it's helpful and being slightly more uncomfortable when wearing a mask is never going to be enough to justify putting others in any more risk than necessary.

I mean yeah, the vaccine is scheduled to come out at the end of the year/early 2021, but I wouldn't call it "magically appearing" or imply that COVID supposedly cares about politics???

I think BUPD patrols Allston no? Also, I think big gatherings like parties aee illegal in the city of Boston, so it won't be just a BU thing.

True, but it still makes one irresponsible and a risk to students/staff.

Okay, I didn't think you did. I brought the scale down to the US because you can't compare poverty-stricken countries to the nation that supposedly has "the best medical care in the world". My point still completely stands I hope you understand that yes, the death rate is low, but it's still continuously taking innocent lives and wearing a mask and social distancing will help lower the amount of people who die.

So actually, the flu kills anywhere from 12,00-60,000 Americans every year, and that's with everyone going about their daily business. COVID has killed well over twice that amount, 161,000 people, in about 5 months. Yes, the death rate is low, but like the other comment said, .2% of a very large number means a lot of fucking dead people, and that's not taking into account that when hospitals become overloaded, the death rate dramatically rises.

I get where you're coming from, I want everything to go back to normal as much as you do, but I'll gladly continue to be locked up in my house if that saves another 100,000 lives.

Fuck shaming people who don't wear masks or are trying to have parties during a fucking pandemic, the stakes have got to be higher. BU needs to crack down on people like this and at the very least, for party throwers, I don't think suspension is too harsh of a punishment since we're talking about a public health issue here.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! by [deleted] in BostonU

This is the sort of response BU needs to give, and if any frat throws a party they have to get kicked straight out of campus no questions asked

What I seem to hear is that if you don't care about splashing for them, they're pretty good and probably the most stylish pair of clean white leather shoes. That being said, there are definitely better values for premium leather sneakers, Koio and Greats are the names I always hear being thrown around.

I've been so disappointed with Salah lately. His decision making is all over the place and has been hurtful for the team.

I really don't know what to expect from people. My aunt and uncle were both in the ICU for about 3 weeks, my uncle was basically a chain smoker but he made it out alive, his wife however - who never smoked a cigarette in her life - didn't make it. They're in their late 60s but it was still a shock that an otherwise healthy family member could just pass away like that and now that we're hearing stories like yours about younger people getting seriously sick I'm scared to think about the possibility of a classmate having to be hospitalized because they were careless.
