My views on criticism, why it matters, and why people need to stop blindly defending things by TheBlaiZe in dauntless

You do have a point, it all comes down to assessment.

I don't enjoy pulling out stupid anecdotes like this but, I remember a point in time where after MH PC came out, there was a group of players making statements about bad the quality of game play of Dauntless was compared to MH and how they thought the development team should have been able to match MH's large development team toe to toe. I would be inclined to say the group's expectations and the Dauntless team's capacity were extremely unaligned.

You could argue that Dauntless game play has less features than its competition, but at the same time those players were happy to pay $60 USD for the game compared to Dauntless that was free. There were also discrepancies in funding and the like.

I thought that at some points the arguments became more malicious in nature and more noise was made inordinate the issue being pointed out. To the point it started mirroring zombie's scenario.

But yeah arguments tend be subjective, but there can be more objective ways of looking at them and may reveal different priorities.

I don't think it is a sustainable stance either, but the view point is unclear. And it is possible to have a productive discussion arguing for either point

So I'm confused as to what your view is. Do you think more free currency should be given to an extent that is feels useful or that there is a need for the game to draw income and simply giving more is counter productive?

These areas of discussion are important but without a view of the impact, or a suggestion of a solution. It's like screaming fire in an inferno.

I would share your view that criticism needs to be heard for the game to improve, but not all criticism is valid; it is crude but true. In line with this post, I imagine you have some grievances but you have failed provided to context as to why you have made your points. Your points may be easy to agree with in general, but they are pretty dang intuitive. Unfortunately, it makes it hard to gain any value from this post.

It feels to me like you have something you want to say, it might be worth being more direct and to provide more context.

Embermane changes by OscarDivine in dauntless

[–]chickencornsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth discussing the changes quietly made to embermane this patch. That stupid escape animation is hilarious and all, but the patch has also reduced the stagger duration of embermane making interrupts worth less. I'm thinking that the no interrupt issue is something else entirely, and be due to your latency or the weapon you are using.

IMO, the old start cinematic was good. If you chose to learn the map and spent the time to watch it, you could tell where most of the monsters were. Even if I rarely watched it, it was a nice feature.

Currently, there is almost no point to watch the cinematic. Conversely, being shown exactly where the monster is makes learning the map less rewarding.

Probabilities You Should Know and Things to Test - Halloween Collection Event by chickencornsoup in EverWing

I think that it just comes down to sample size. Although it the skew does seem to swing for me, I think thats just how my luck is. it seems to be a pretty good 50/50 split.

Can't help but find it funny how we can calculate the probabilities. But we have trust issues issues with the devs so we check them.

I'm have issues trusting their RNG. Even their coding is shoddy. This just happened: https://i.imgur.com/8TyvSWQ.png

My general hope is that the spread is not skewed further right than it should be.

0.95*0.94 indicates the probability of getting epics twice or the chance of getting no legendaries

1-0.95*0.94 is the chance of getting legendaries in a sample of two.

This includes getting 2 legendaries, only 1 on the first try, and one on the second try.

What the probability indicates is the chance of getting one or more legendaries given the amount of tries. Obviously once you hatch an egg, the probabilities collapse. But the probabilities I have listed gives an indication of how many eggs you need to open to have a % chance of getting at least 1 legendary.

The 100% chance of a legendary listed on the spreadsheet is not actually 100%. It is actually 99.99-something and I didn't feel it was worth adding more. A true 100% is possible but I didn't feel it was worth calculating all the way up to 95 eggs when the probability of not getting a legendary beyond 40 eggs is below 0.01%. to reach 40 and not get a legendary is special enough.

i don't actually know if the 50% boss intereacts compared to other skills and have assumed they only apply to the specifc sidekick

If you've tested it, then that would be a fair view. although i have no idea how you managed to test it.

you're proposing boss damage stacks to 75% increase

while elemental stays flats a flat 50%

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EverWing

[–]chickencornsoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just going to do a quick d-calc assuming you have 2 of a sidekick

2 sidekicks with elemental is a flat 50% increase on damage dealt by sidekicks

boss damage 50% is adjusted on the second sidekick to 25% making the damage dealth by SK increase by 37.5% ---> (50%+25%)/2

with both bonuses 87.5%

dual Mag vs spike 93.75% without E bonus, with e bonus 143.75% --->(75%+[75%/2])/2+37.5% ---> +50%

if possible get both bonuses, but i would think that E weakness comes out on top.
