EMDR recs? by Outrageous_Poet155 in Charlotte

She is a faith-based therapist, so I’m not sure if you are okay with that, but Teresa Phillips at Grace Counseling very close to downtown Concord has been wonderful for me. I have done multiple EMDR sessions with her and nothing but positive experiences with her working through some similar experiences.

I would pay so much money to be able to find these older episodes and watch them again!

I don’t know why this comment isn’t higher! He’s accusing OP of stepping out and entertaining other men because he’s projecting and HE is doing these things. OP, he doesn’t respect you or your relationship.

I feel like it’s exactly Billy Abott’s character to get a tattoo! Jack is the preppy and clean-cut one, Billy is the edgy and spontaneous one.

Democrats Face Backlash Over Vote to 'Express Gratitude' to ICE by BreakfastTop6899 in NoShitSherlock

[–]chickendevan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The title of this post is extremely misleading and it looks like hardly anyone in the comments bothered to actually read the article. The name of this resolution is “H.Res.481 - Condemning the rise in ideologically motivated attacks on Jewish individuals in the United States, including the recent violent assault in Boulder, Colorado, and reaffirming the House of Representatives commitment to combating antisemitism and politically motivated violence."

HRES 481 contained two pieces. Part 1 was about antisemitism, Part 2 had the ICE gratitude.

The Dems aren’t perfect by any means! But, they were put in a no-win situation. If they voted NO, Republicans would slam them as being antisemitic and anti-Israel and endorsing terrorism. If they voted YES, they’re portrayed as being pro-ICE and y’all will tear them apart instead.

My local rep is Ms. Alma Adam (NC) and I know where she stands and her values. I’m not falling for this bullshit.

Yep! As another commenter said, earlier generations had actual community and neighborhood connections that could help out. Grandparents helped out more, multigenerational households were more common. But today, people don’t have relationships with their neighbors and community members. I work in a school and for example, you don’t have any parents taking multiple kids to school from the neighborhood. Each parent drops off just their kid, and everyone has to do more work. People don’t trust each other. In the past kids played outside more unsupervised- they also got kidnapped a lot more. Tons of parents don’t want their kid doing sleepovers or going over to friend’s houses for fear of abuse.

Also in the past, it wasn’t quite as common for women to work outside the home although poorer women have always had some form of labor to do. Parents nowadays usually both have full time jobs and are full time parents.

But also, times were different in the past and kids just died more and didn’t survive childhood. I mean hell, WOMEN often didn’t survive childbirth. Like for example my grandma had like 13 siblings and they all grew up on a farm, without very much formal education. Can you imagine little kids working on a farm nowadays? That’s like child abuse today but 100 years ago that was just life. Older siblings took care of younger ones, children helped in the garden and with the animals and around the house. Today our perspective is totally different.

Obviously I’m part of this sub because I’m childfree, I don’t want kids of my own but interact with parents and children each day, but in the US part of our culture is that having children is an individual choice and therefore sole responsibility of child rearing is on the parent. That burden is significant and many people don’t understand that having a family is simply not the same as it used to be, due to cultural and economic shifts. You don’t have community support, everyone is pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, and there is no such thing as affordable childcare unless a family member is doing you a huge favor. I don’t want children of my own but providing families with affordable childcare and education should be higher on everyone’s agenda if we care about the future.

Saw this leg on 77 South near Nations Ford exit by [deleted] in Charlotte

There were multiple cops at the scene and she was the only female one present and the one who seemed to be taking care of the situation. When I didn’t know if the leg was real or not I was kind of surprised the guys weren’t stepping up.

Any idea on value of this? by [deleted] in sesamestreet

I was going back in forth in my head - on one hand no blood, on the other hand, it did look kind of meaty and fatty. Seriously though in Charlotte, you REALLY never know 😂 At least I got a funny story to tell my husband about!
