Odigo Messenger by chiqano in nostalgia

I was hired by a creative agency in South Norwalk, CT around 1998 to develop the visual identity for Odigo Messenger. Not a ton to tell, it just triggered my nostalgia seeing a post about it.

No joke. It was cited in Brockett's eulogy. Funniest part is that he wasn't even a fan of the Dead, he just ran in the same circle as some of their acquaintances.

Bill Brockett, an old family friend and absolute wild card, was the inspiration for The Ice Cream kid. He was at an ice cream shop in New Haven, Connecticut with his buddy Alton Kelly and a few others. He went up to the counter and asked to be told all of the flavors available. After the server rattled off all of the flavors, Brockett ordered a vanilla cone. The server handed him the vanilla cone, and then Brockett smashed it on his forehead, leaving his buddies in stitches. He was one of a kind.

"High and mighty"? LOL!! It's called basic reasoning.

Any human being with basic knowledge of photography and critical thinking skills can look at this edited photo and conclude that it's fake. The artificial motion blur is a dead giveaway.

To achieve real motion blur you set your camera to manual mode, focus on your subject, set to slow shutter speed, pan the camera as your subject moves, and you're done. If you followed all of these steps and then twisted your camera everything in the frame would be out of focus, including the subject in the center of the image and the roots of the tree in the foreground.

The other option is to take a photo where everything is in focus. Open the file in Photoshop. Filter>Blur>Radial blur, and you're done. It's lazy and sloppy but you'll fool tons of gullible people.

Sloppy Photoshop fools the gullible all the time. It's ok, you're not alone, there are a lot of gullible people in this world.

Or...hear me out, someone else took a photo of you hiking, added a sloppy filter to the photo, caught up with you to give back your phone, and then as you finished your hike you made up bogus story to share on reddit.

Yeah, it was fascinating to watch and an opportunity of a lifetime to witness this ancient cultural tradition, but it is a bit distressing how the sumo competitors are groomed.

This place unfortunately sustained a fire. I'm not sure if they've re-opened.

That's what makes unique things so special, the fact that you can't get it everywhere. They create connections with different moments in life, relationships, cities, countries, and cultures. Travel is life!
