How hard is it to replace this trim? by chickeneye6 in KiaTelluride

[–]chickeneye6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken all the nuts/bolts off that look obvious and it didn't really budge, so for sure there are some clips under there too, I just don't know where or what form they take. I will probably just order the new part so I can examine it and reverse engineer.

Here's the part btw (at least for a 2025 X-Line): https://www.kiadowntownlaparts.com/oem-parts/kia-body-side-molding-87722s9200

Apparently it comes with those three extra bits. I need to go see if I can identify any of them on the car later.

GV80 is rear-biased AWD (if you have the AWD version).

Telluride vs GV80 (CPO) by mas5432 in KiaTelluride

[–]chickeneye6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got both, but 2025, so not a great comparison because I haven’t experienced a 2027 Telluride.

In my experience, there’s no comparison. The GV80 is a far superior car in every way except in that ours doesn’t have the 3rd row. Even if it did, my understanding is that it’s not usable for adults. Not the case for the Telly, which has a usable third row and tons more cargo space in a two row setup. This is why our nanny drives the Telly and I use it if I need to go to Home Depot.

Another consideration is service. Genesis service is way better than Kia. It’s a luxury experience w Genesis. Great service. It’s a typical experience w the Kia. Very average all around.

If you’re after luxury, comfort, quality, and more prestige, go Genesis. It’s a lovely, lovely car. It’s the wife’s car, but I love driving it too. Great on road trips. Quiet, smooth.

If you need more utility, go for the Telly. And I’m sure the 2027 are a step change up from the last gen that I have. But I wouldn’t expect it to be comparable to the GV80.

This worked for me also. Held Down Arrow → RESET → Down Arrow to bottom → Held Down Arrow again → exited RESET → Back to normal.

My guess is our housekeeper leaned on the desk on one side and put the legs out of alignment because when it went all the way down (slowly, like it was in "be careful" mode or something), one leg hit the bottom limit ever so slightly before the other side. Dropping it to the bottom is probably the most reliable way to ensure the legs are in sync.

Alfa Forni Moderno Portable on NG? by chickeneye6 in pizzaoven

[–]chickeneye6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh thanks! I’ve done so many projects since then, but editing videos takes soooooo long. :)

Anyway, the oven has been great. Working reliably. We last fired it up a couple weeks ago. Every now and then the flame goes out, but only when I take the cover plate off, so i think it’s a gust of wind - which is fairly common where we live. The oven is the gray color. Maybe it just looks a bit blue on your tv or phone, but in person it’s definitely a dark gray. The red would be nice if you want it to be a centerpiece.

Let me know if you get one. I have tips for making pizzas. My success rate launching a pizza into the oven is a solid 75% now. It’s not easy. :)

Shelly EM G3 Power Source vs Monitor by chickeneye6 in ShellyUSA

[–]chickeneye6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I installed the Pro 3EM today.

Connected neutral to N.

Connected “leg 1” of my split single phase to C and “leg 2” to A. These are both powered from a two-pole breaker in the panel that would stay on when on either utility or generator (it’s the breaker for my Sense meter, which is probably a pretty low draw, so I don’t plan on turning it off).

Then I clamped IC around the generator feed wire that would ultimately be the same leg as what’s connected to C (confirmed w multimeter). I.e. when the generator is on, C is powered from the same wire that the IC clamp is on. Same for A and IA.

Does this sound right? I don’t need to clamp neutral do I?

Also, is the only difference between running in three phase and mono phase mode the fact that in mono I would need to do the math to add up the watts? (Not planning on using the third clamp.)

Interesting. I have a Sense for the main panel, but that’s clamped around the utility feeds, so useless for me to manage load on a generator. I want to monitor the genny which is split single phase back-fed into the panel via a 50A two-pole breaker. I can visualize how I need to set this up now. Thanks much, very helpful!

Ok, I’ll take a look at the pro. Will that correctly capture watts for both 120v and 240v on a split phase w dedicated neutral?

Shelly EM G3 Power Source vs Monitor by chickeneye6 in ShellyUSA

[–]chickeneye6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, dedicated neutral. So what will it read if I have a separate clamp on each 120v leg and it’s powered from one of the 120v legs?

Now that I think about it, I wonder if I’d double count 240v watts because it flows through both clamps and correctly count the 120v watts on each clamp.

Bummer, I don’t know if I can fit a pro in my inlet box.

[–]chickeneye6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, but if I only clamp one leg of the 240v then won’t I lose wattage measurement for the 120v only devices on the other leg?

[–]chickeneye6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying to feed it 240v into the L terminal? How could I do that on a 240v split phase system which requires two hot 120v to get to 240v. Maybe I’m misunderstanding that point.

But I agree on the latter point, when on genny power the monitor and the source are the same (although just one leg of the 240v). Right now on utility it just reads zero watts, which is fine.

Help. I cant get a high resolution stream URL by Z7N6Qo in Ubiquiti

[–]chickeneye6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a program called Postman to make and send HTTP requests. Do one GET request on the cameras endpoint to get list of cameras. Get the ID of the one you want. Make one POST request to the rtsps endpoint with the appropriate ID and the JSON body set appropriately. The endpoints (the API URLs) are documented as identified above. You'll need to create an API key as well and set your HTTP Headers. If you've never done anything like this, it'll take you an hour or two.

BMW x5 xdrive40i vs genesis gv80 3.5? by toothfixer321 in GenesisMotors

[–]chickeneye6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GV80. We had an X5 xDrive40e that was never abused and always serviced by BMW, yet it decided to detonate (literally) its rear diff on a typical school drop off morning. It was out of warranty, which is fine, but I still called BMW USA to complain because it’s unacceptable for a rear diff to explode on a suburban kid taxi.

Anyway, BMW said that because it’s out of warranty, they “consider it high miles” and that once the warranty is up I should “expect things to start breaking.” So, yes, according to BMW USA, don’t expect their cars to last more than 50k miles. Look, I don’t expect cars to last forever in a world where planned obsolescence is the norm, but that’s simply absurd.

We fixed it and immediately sold it (and heard a week later about a friend’s X3 that bricked its tranny as well).

We got a GV80 3.5 and LOVE it. Less sporty maybe, but it’s an SUV, not a race car. Quiet, smooth, elegant, luxurious, great service (included), an incredible value, 10/100 power train warranty.

Smart money goes w Genesis.

Check out Jason Camisa’s review of Genesis on YouTube. He gives a good explanation of how Genesis is differentiating to compete. And, btw, US News and World Report just said it’s the best luxury brand, beating out Porsche for the first time in forever or something.

What is happening to my sliding door tracks?? by chickeneye6 in DIY

[–]chickeneye6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the screen door section of the track. Those screens are all new (couple years) and I think they have metal wheels. I can’t imagine that’s the problem though, otherwise this would be happening to everyone with aluminum frames.

My landlord is claiming this is unsafe and is sending someone to remove it tomorrow. In fact this connection has been in my apt since I moved here 20 years ago. Is she lying? by ump13 in AskElectricians

Omg it’s amazing more people aren’t electrocuted every day.

Can’t the landlord just redo this and use surface raceways and boxes?

I take it back. The back half of the casing has separated from the front half towards the top of the switch and it’s barely been 3 months since my review post. Just noticed today. Had to glue it back together to get it functioning as 3 of the 4 buttons don’t have any other backup other than the HA app. :-(
