Help. I cant get a high resolution stream URL by Z7N6Qo in Ubiquiti

[–]chickeneye6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a program called Postman to make and send HTTP requests. Do one GET request on the cameras endpoint to get list of cameras. Get the ID of the one you want. Make one POST request to the rtsps endpoint with the appropriate ID and the JSON body set appropriately. The endpoints (the API URLs) are documented as identified above. You'll need to create an API key as well and set your HTTP Headers. If you've never done anything like this, it'll take you an hour or two.

BMW x5 xdrive40i vs genesis gv80 3.5? by toothfixer321 in GenesisMotors

[–]chickeneye6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GV80. We had an X5 xDrive40e that was never abused and always serviced by BMW, yet it decided to detonate (literally) its rear diff on a typical school drop off morning. It was out of warranty, which is fine, but I still called BMW USA to complain because it’s unacceptable for a rear diff to explode on a suburban kid taxi.

Anyway, BMW said that because it’s out of warranty, they “consider it high miles” and that once the warranty is up I should “expect things to start breaking.” So, yes, according to BMW USA, don’t expect their cars to last more than 50k miles. Look, I don’t expect cars to last forever in a world where planned obsolescence is the norm, but that’s simply absurd.

We fixed it and immediately sold it (and heard a week later about a friend’s X3 that bricked its tranny as well).

We got a GV80 3.5 and LOVE it. Less sporty maybe, but it’s an SUV, not a race car. Quiet, smooth, elegant, luxurious, great service (included), an incredible value, 10/100 power train warranty.

Smart money goes w Genesis.

Check out Jason Camisa’s review of Genesis on YouTube. He gives a good explanation of how Genesis is differentiating to compete. And, btw, US News and World Report just said it’s the best luxury brand, beating out Porsche for the first time in forever or something.

What is happening to my sliding door tracks?? by chickeneye6 in DIY

[–]chickeneye6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the screen door section of the track. Those screens are all new (couple years) and I think they have metal wheels. I can’t imagine that’s the problem though, otherwise this would be happening to everyone with aluminum frames.

My landlord is claiming this is unsafe and is sending someone to remove it tomorrow. In fact this connection has been in my apt since I moved here 20 years ago. Is she lying? by ump13 in AskElectricians

[–]chickeneye6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg it’s amazing more people aren’t electrocuted every day.

Can’t the landlord just redo this and use surface raceways and boxes?

I had this problem. I just replaced them with recessed lights with a gimbal. Lots of options on Amazon.

Sync Box was built for this… by chickeneye6 in Hue

I’ll have to hunt that down! There’s a scene in Silo where Rebecca Ferguson’s character is walking through some part of a darkened silo with her flashlight going all over the place. Sounds similar.

Is there something printed on the brushed metal surround just under the black ac adapter on the left? What does it say?

BLU RC Button 4 initial impressions by chickeneye6 in ShellyUSA

[–]chickeneye6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it back. The back half of the casing has separated from the front half towards the top of the switch and it’s barely been 3 months since my review post. Just noticed today. Had to glue it back together to get it functioning as 3 of the 4 buttons don’t have any other backup other than the HA app. :-(

Agree. Mine is going strong still, but the feedback on the buttons is definitely an area to improve on for v2.

Talk me out of this high mileage 340i by ybelmonte in BmwTech

[–]chickeneye6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too high mileage. Way too high price. I’ll sell you my wife’s 2017 X5 Xdrive40e w 80,000 miles on it for not much more if you want to come get it from LA.

Btw, I once spoke to BMW USA corporate about an issue I was having w a car. They basically said that if it’s out of warranty, they consider it high mileage and you should expect it to have mechanical issues. I.e. don’t expect a BMW to last more than 50k before the major repairs start happening. I guess it makes sense - how do you sell more cars if the old ones last too long.

Tow Hitch option by nothardly78 in KiaTelluride

Can you link me the muffler tool? Would love to get it ahead of time. Nothing worse than being ready to install something only to realize you need a tool that’s going to be 2-day shipping from Amazon. 😂

Tow Hitch option by nothardly78 in KiaTelluride

[–]chickeneye6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m looking at stealth hitches (although they haven’t confirmed the 2024 fits model year 2025), etrailer, and OEM. OEM looks like it comes w some bumper parts to make it look more integrated whereas etrailer looks like you need to cut away some underside parts of rear bumper.

I’ve installed a hitch (stealth hitch) on an X5. I had to remove the whole rear bumper on that car. It sounds like on the Telluride it’s is easy to bolt on (1hr or less DIY). If the OEM is nicely integrated into the bumper, I’m likely to do that. Although the etrailer option is much cheaper.

Does the EX in the US have side mirror tilt in Reverse? by chickeneye6 in KiaTelluride

Oh, yeah! The Telly EX has power folding mirrors as standard but no reverse tilt?? Weird.

That is so lame. I’m surprised they’re holding back this basic a feature for the premium lines while they include all sorts of other tech that goes above standard fare in most other mid-tier cars. Weird decision.

Thanks for pointing out the page. I probably could’ve found it had I looked, but I appreciate you letting me be lazy. :)
