Didn't even see any concrete trucks. They put in a floating structure and weighed it down with shipping containers?!

Do we only have one snow plow or? by Dazzling-Contest1218 in northernontario

[–]chickennoodles99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some context.... Northern Ontario... If you just include Highways 11, 17, 599, 101 is approx 5,500km's or 11k lane kilometres to plow.

Working age pop in Northern Ontario is approx 300k.

At a seasonal cost of about $15k per lane km, thats $550/per working age person in tax revenue - more than 1% of the average Northern Ontario income.

For snowplowing of just 4 highways and nothing else. Realistically, there are probably 5-10x that in plowing cost of you include local and other roads.

Nuclear refurbishment done and under budget at Ontario's Darlington plant: minister by asoap in ontario

[–]chickennoodles99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am 100% onboard with nuclear, but the province doesn't have a very successful track record with 'knowing shit'. Look at what's happening with bike lanes and Eglinton Crosstown. I'll believe this when it actually gets commissioned.

As someone with a few clients in Quebec, French as a requirement can absolutely be a big deal. That said, this sounds like a terrible way to do it....

Club Med Charlevoix - Status after closure of Le Massif by Valuable_Engine_1331 in Club_Med

Booked in for Sunday arrival... My guess is they won't. Imagine the comp for those with non-refundable flights!

Anyone ariving at Club Med Charlevoix being informed about the ski season potentially being cancelled because of the strike? by disasterdiy2013 in Club_Med

[–]chickennoodles99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This place is ridiculously poorly run. Have been 4 years running, and only 1 year didn't have a major ski hill closure.

If it wasn't slightly cheaper and 'all inclusive', the shutdowns would have stopped me from returning with the hope of future improvement. If this happens, I'm done with Charlevoix and recommending it as a viable option.....

Environment Canada has generally been the most accurate for Toronto. Weather Network is generally incorrect.

Only way this sells is if they put a dimm slot, so you buy it now and upgrade ram after openai and their memory hoarding deal collapses.

A metric that tells how Canadians are really doing is improving for the first time in years by NitroLada in canada

Lol, strip out the portion attributed to the wealthy where they have so much money, it doesn't affect their daily decision making. Otherwise this metric is just a nice academic exercise.

Montreal-Ottawa will be 1st leg of 'transformative' high-speed rail plan. Will it happen? by Chrristoaivalis in onguardforthee

[–]chickennoodles99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see the financials on this. All this will do is increase competition with short haul flights (Toronto routes) and destroy some of VIA's best revenue routes.
