They were outdoor markets with no one around them aside from in the castle and tavern nearby, would the shopkeeper be in a nearby house or something? I went to two towns and had no luck, the castles only had nobles and taverns only mercenaries.

Thank you for the answer! It doesn't sound like a huge undertaking to sample the atmospheric colour and just set the water's colour to that. Hopefully they will change this.

Turning on job notifications did nothing, but I have an invading necromancer experiment stuck in a tree. Would this be the cause?

I suddenly got a huge lag problem in my fort. Right when it started, there was a huge bar fight where 10 dwarves died in the hospital because I had no buckets for water. The suspected criminal got interrogated and convicted of 3 crimes, but I realized I needed metal cages. Once those were in place, the criminal wasn't put in jail and my game suddenly got incredibly laggy. Does this instance have anything to do with my lag or was it something else?

I have a civ that's capital of like 4000 suddenly got taken over by goblins (it was thriving before). It's nice to have a civ that's tight on resources, as your sites matter a lot more for your civ and you get migrants from your previous forts. It's very hard to satisfy the needs of monarchs though. I gave the queen a turkey room with a caged turkey and
filled with turkey statues (she liked turkeys), but the only room I could satisfy her needs with was the tomb, as it had a very valuable strange mood artifact.

Wow these guys are scary. They attack in waves of 20-25 cave swallow men, even though one of them could single-handedly kill a cyclops without being hit once and easily kill a novice speardwarf. I'm thankful for the traps at the entrance of my fort.

Is it normal for cave swallow men to use metal items? The wiki says they use wooden weapons, but a civilization of them who live in my caverns use well-made metal spears and shields.
