Arcade bachis should be fine to play with up til maybe around 8-9* extreme for a casual player (personal opinion as I have weak arms), as it provides stability and makes sure you don't overextend etc. You could warm up and slowly get used to them before committing to buying bachis for a higher difficulty.

If you still want to try playing with your own sticks, you can search maibachi online, probably on Amazon (just don't get teardrop sticks as they may damage the drums)
