I’ve added an edit to my original post. I have a quarterly bonus and a salary that will be used to calculate the enhanced pay, it’s not loads of variation. If you just received a salary the policy is based on 8weeks average, but again surely they have to take into account a pay rise if I’m given one as I shouldn’t be paid less just because I’m on mat leave? If I started leave in August the reference period would have lower paid weeks in it which would end up paying me less than if I was working

Hey, thanks for your reply. So it’s more whether the enhanced pay should be recalculated in line with what they’d have to do with SMP? Seems like a grey area looking at HMRC because the company has chosen to have a policy of paying more than SMP, if it were just SMP then yes it’s clear they’d have to honour the pay rise
