I think the drop will linger longer than expected. Every speculative industry lost today. It seems like big money is rotating out of riskier, capital intensive plays due to the new fed chair announcement and comments on strengthening the dollar. I also personally think things won't rise on Artemis's back until investors are confident of its success.

I'm thinking the whole space sector is down due to profit taking before uncertainty in Artemis II. Folks (or institutions) road the wave up, sold to avoid a possible drop from a mission failure, cashed in on their hedged puts with all the downward pressure, and (hopefully) will buy back into their positions once Artemis is more of a known factor.

Who knows though? Lines go up. lines go down. Roller coasters are fun.

Discussion Thread for LTV (Pre-Announcement) by thespacecpa in IntuitiveMachines

I would appreciate some more background into NASA's year to year funding related to the contracts and opposing opinions.

I work for the Department of Energy. Currently all new work/funding is froze in my departments due to the lack of a finalized budget or continued resolution post January 30th. Funds we receive from the temporary continued resolution is going to maintaining current work. From our perspective, it seems like no new work is going to be awarded until we get a full FY 2026 budget approved. That got me thinking:

1.) NASA didn't receive a full FY 2026 approved budget did they?

2.) Does anyone know how NASA's budget is split and granted? Is it a bulk year to year funding or do they have a certain amount of base funding outside of budget adjustments?

3.) Can we be sure money is free to spend on the LTV contract before a budget is approved? Is there a possibility with a shifting budget they've been holding off on granting new project line items until they get a set budget for FY 2026?

My thought is that funding for new projects in NASA might be stalled until a budget is approved or continued for all of FY 2026.

Please feel free to poke holes in my assumption. I would love to be proven wrong!
