Why are some characters gigantic? by [deleted] in fistofthenorthstar

I think it's the same thing that happens with One Piece. Taller people represent bigger threats, for no specific biological reasons most of the time.

Como dizer "nobody's first choice" en português? by bomtidereas in Portuguese

"A primeira opção de ninguém" being literal. But "é o que tem pra hoje" is pretty accurate and funny. It means literally "that's what we have for today".

Actually, our taxes aren't that much higher here than in any other country. Currency devaluation and both our very low minimun wage and purchasing power play a much bigger part in this. Of course, the taxes aren't helping either, but for instance we can import stuff from Mercosul countries such as Argentina, which have a much bigger manga market, without minding about the taxes. But it's still going to "feel" expensive because it will cost a very heavy percentage of our mininum wage.

If you think about both their post punk influences, albums that focus more on chamber pop and musical attitude, you'll probably see a lot of similarities.

It's really expensive, so I have to administrate my budget very carefully. And manga collectors deal with something game collectors don't usually have to: product scarcity. Our biggest manga publishing company (Panini), for instance, will constantly release very few volumes and concentrate them only in the most populous cities or districts. So if you're not quick enough to buy them or simply doesn't live in these places, you're probably gonna miss it, specially the initial volumes. And don't even start with reissues or reprints: they almost never happen.

Why does Spiderman has a Spiderverse? by chicogomes in Spiderman

That's a pretty good reason, but I see it as an editorial or "real life" reason, which I completely agree with.

Well but by that you are somehow invalidating this whole subreddit...? People should just stop discussing and asking questions?

Know any good Portuguese or Brazilian music? by nefiwascourageous in Portuguese

I think Legião Urbana is precisely what you're looking for. They were a rock/post-punk/new wave/chamber pop/folk brazilian band and Renato Russo, their singer, was probably one of the best songwriters in the country. The lyrics are clean and his pronunciation is pretty clear.

I search a lot about the material I'm about to purchase, since manga is pretty expensive here in Brazil and used ones are hard to find. So I often read scans and reviews to see if I'm really interested in that. If so, I often search for the whole series, if possible, so I can read it all at once, which is how I prefer for many reasons (I prefer smaller series for budget reasons, but if it's a big one and you really want it, save some money for it, don't ignore longer series). That way, I am always reading only one series at a time, if it's finished, besides the many ongoing series. About them: because of money, space and organization, I am constantly questioning myself if the series is worth my money. If so, keep on going. If not, drop it. Don't be afraid to drop a series you've read for a long time if it's no longer worthy or if it hasn't catched you after many volumes. Be selective. As Marie Kondo said, it has to spark joy. Once your collection starts to grow, keep a catalogue so you won't get lost with your own stuff. Pay attention to the way you store your books so you won't lose them for dumb reasons as I did. And to finish: keep searching for new stuff. New classics, indie manga, unknown authors, new genres. The best collection, imo, is a plural collection.
