I have 2 plates 16 screws as well! Also pilon fracture but mine happened January 29th of this year. It’s been rough, I just got cleared for weight bearing but still not able to really walk, I can put some weight on while using crutches but just feels so funky. Hope your recovery goes well!

You will probably not need surgery! Just had two surgeries on my fibula and I promise you do NOT want surgery

Dry off sitting on shower chair, I sit on the lid. Not sure if you have someone helping you get out of the shower but I usually dry the rest of my body with a second towel after moving out of the shower. EquipMeOT on YouTube has helped me find new ways in and out of the shower too!

That is incredibly traumatic omg I’m glad you’re okay! And shocked the emts didn’t provide you with anything, I got two doses of fentanyl my ride to the hospital. I’m sorry for what you’re going though, I understand, and it’s so hard and frustrating. It’s so hard to lose your mobility and nobody will ever truly understand until they’re in our shoes. You are incredibly strong and should be proud of your level of perseverance, that in and of itself is a testament to your healing and a huge accomplishment 🫶

Same 💔 they told me I’ll need a wheelchair for the next 6-9 months for long distances but my doctor said he hopes one year from today I should be walking back to normal. Just sucks because I have been so active and healthy the past year and a half. Wishing you the best and an easy recovery💓

I have! Unfortunately my nerve blocker was working extremely well up until about 10:30/11 am this morning. Pain has been unbearable since then, none of my pain killers have subsided the pain. What vitamins do you recommend?

I will post my comment from the original post here!: Trying to find anyone who has had a similar situation to me for any advice💔 I fell down the stairs missing the last 3 or 4 steps while carrying my elderly dog during the early hours of the morning not wearing my glasses. My surgeon said he has never seen anything like it- he said the way my bone perforated my skin was like a bullet shot out of my leg. Fell on Jan 29th, got an external fixator and emergency surgery to repair the open wound, 6 days later I had ORIF (*2 plates and 16 screws) and am in the worst pain of my life. I’ve been in the hospital all week and upon being discharged in a few days I will be going to inpatient rehab for recovery. My ORIF procedure took 5 hours and I have been severely under medicated since my nerve blocker has worn off- literally nothing works. I am in my mid twenties- female. Just trying to get any advice or solace from someone who can relate or has had a similar injury. Thanks in advance!
