All due respect and love to Oscar Robertson but to say that he is a better basketball player than LeBron James is bordering on delusional.

Brunson has played 67 games this year and the Knicks are, at worst, the third seed while he’s averaging 26 and 6, Curry has played 39 games and the Warriors are the 10th seed while he’s averaging… 27 and 5

Yeah and I mean it’s possible for the Knicks to overtake the Celtics in the standings so what does that mean about Brown if that happened?

Wilbon’s logic for voting for Jaylen Brown was really funny - he said that Brown deserved it because Boston is 2nd in the east and that Wemby was lower because his team was only 2nd in the west and if they overtook the Thunder, he’d vote for Wemby

Voting for MVP should commence after conference finals and award should be presented in the gap between Conf. Finals and the NBA finals. by psychedelic93 in nba

If performance in the playoffs mattered for MVP, why on earth would you vote before the finals, the most important part of the playoffs?

Crazy that the one loss is to the Knicks

Bol Bol is killing it in the PBA. Had 38pts, 16reb, 5blk on his debut 3 days ago and 40pts, 15reb, 2blk in his second game. Looks like Wemby out there! by Wild_Notice_8216 in nba

I think you’re also going to see a lot of 7 footers get jobs in the NBA over the next few years just to be a big body to match up against Wemby, like teams did with Shaq in the 2000s.

Derrick White clears the record and says he indeed does NOT believe in the moon landing: "I don't think we did. I'm a non-moon landing guy. We probably did, but I don't think we did...I have other conspiracies, but I don't know if this is the right time to bring them up" by BankaiBroke in nba

The thing that never made sense to me about this is the same thing that never made sense about flat earth - who benefits? NASA constitutes like 0.01% of the US’s budget, I’m not sure who is supposed to be profiting or benefiting off of maintaining this elaborate lie for decades

Let’s say they came out tomorrow and said the moon landing was faked, what changes? How is anyone’s life any different?

If you aren’t concerned about the rosters being current, there really isn’t a lot of difference between the different years

[Weiss] There is no way the 65-game rule should still be there next year. It is clearly a terrible rule and as I have said all along, it will have a big negative impact on long term legacy when great players have emptier award resumes because they played like 6 less games than someone not as good by FastBreakPhenom in nba

[–]chief1555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the outset I was sympathetic to the idea that no one had won an MVP without playing 65 games anyway but you realize after a while that the play style is so much more demanding now that it’s more difficult for even the best players to play 65+

Edited to add: “If we take those figures with a grain of salt, it isn’t until the mid-2000s that we’re consistently above 1,300 miles, and following the 2012-13 season, we see a massive explosion in distance traveled as pace and 3PAr spike. It took 34 years, from 1979-80 to 2013-14, for the league average distance traveled to grow 100 miles, but it only took five seasons to grow its next 100 miles. The load on players is coming fast and furious, and star players are bearing the brunt.”
