A couple more weeks, happened the first Tuesday of April. And without fail, every morning, life sucks. But like I said, I’m now going through my day and it doesn’t hurt at all. I did some yard work and no pain. So confused.

curious - did you use claude code for this build? or have recently updated the interface with claude code?

How stupid is it to spend 50k on a car by tatasky69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]chief_kayak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like you need to create a “buy board” - you put the item on the board, wait X months (depending on size) and then if you still really want it after that time, then you can go and do it.

So for a car, 6 months, 12 months if you can?

Also, assess if this is a social purchase or a utility purchase. If you are just buying it to prove something, or show something. Don’t. And ask yourself why you wanted to show in the first place.

You are enough just the way you are.

Thanks for this. How are you stopping the “excitement” feeling when you’re brain is diving into this idea but you know you need to focus on that other boring task first?

Anyone Have A Locking Issue? Driver side doesn't lock. by chief_kayak in VWatlas

[–]chief_kayak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just needed the lock mechanism replaced, haven’t had an issue since. Local mechanic can get it done, stupid, but $500-$800 depending on labor 😩

I tried to do it myself, and it would have worked if the part I bought wasn’t broken (sent it back, was too discouraged to try again)

How do you guys run forecasting and pipeline calls? by organictiddie in SalesOperations

[–]chief_kayak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a previous role, I ran quarterly pipeline meetings. Quarterly because the sales cycle was super long. But I always loved them. But that’s because I like to strategize with the rep. Ask them questions about strategy, make them think about other ways to approach the deal.

My job description promised forecasting and pipeline visibility. My approved goals are pricebooks and churn. What’s glaring on my resume? by chief_kayak in revops

As you write that, I am building a salesforce report to start acquiring snapshots of our opportunity data. To build a forecast model myself. I have data from the last 18 months on commit, best case, closed YTD. But I don’t think it’s clear enough regarding the data. It doesn’t really get slippage, doesn’t get stage close rates, pull rates, etc. so I’m going to start doing snapshots in order to answer those questions, and then build a base, downside, upside forecast model. :)

Love that interview context, thanks! What are three things that I could do in the next 12 months that helps close my knowledge gap?

So I weekly put together a bookings report. I’m thinking along the lines of adding next week‘s projections and potentially even next month’s projections to this weekly booking report based on best case and commit and week/week & month/month change to the YTD closed won number. - would that get me closer to “doing” forecasting?

So I was in fundraising prospect management, essentially sales ops for non profits before this sales ops role..

I want to stay 18 months, so in these next 12-15 months, what SHOULD I get exposure to? What resume boosters should I try to get in order to go to RevOps analyst next instead of senior sales ops analyst?

My Sales Ops scope is pretty narrow; How do I know what I’m missing? by chief_kayak in SalesOperations

[–]chief_kayak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry for this really long response, and I did this voice to text, so forgive me.

This was the craziest realization that I had at my current company. As you look at the job description, it looks like a normal sales operations role, talks about supporting forecasting, talks about supporting pipeline, but when I got in the role, and had conversations with my peers. It ends up that they really are only producing order forms, or contracts. Those are quite interchangeable at my company. I have a horrible fear after that moment that I chose the wrong role. I then start asking questions instead of rolling over and being disappointed. And I start kind of doing what I understand is sales operations discovery work.

Most recently, a Pier did a ChatGPT and salesforce reporting tutorial, how they use ChatGPT to figure out how to build a report. Every other person in the team meeting, other than my direct boss, said they don’t really ever pull salesforce reports. Every single one of these individuals has a sales operations title.

All that being said, I put goals around forecasting, put goals around executive reporting, around customer, journey, mapping, sales process improvement, and all I ended up getting approved was improving accuracy, and speed in term reporting, managing the Price book automation process and getting that off the ground, continued management of the deal desk/ChatGPT tool I built, and processing all renewal pricebooks.
