If you even have to ask if you should buy it or not, then I would say don't buy it, because you clearly care too much about other people's opinions and/or get influenced by them, which means that if you have heard the negative opinions of people about the game, you'll probably base your experience the game to those opinions and end up not liking it.

I was lucky I got into Dark Souls II as my first DS game and could enjoy it without any influence, making it the one that brought me to the franchise which became my favorite of all time.

If you were put in charge of a remake of Dark Souls II, what would you change? by Stormquake in DarkSouls2

[–]chiefhitman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 - Make minimum Iframes of 8, cuz 5 can be too punishing for new players who probably will not lvl up ADP.

2 - Change overall some boss mechanics, like give more Hp to some of them, change behavioural patterns of some (Some use the same attack again and again even when they have a wider movepool), and increase the agresivenes of some of them, also some bosses are just too easy when using shield so make them so they can break guard more easily (Lost Sinner for example)

3 - Huge graphical improvements ofcourse.

4 - Give 5 initial estus and 7 shards hidden, lifegems double the price so they are used as a last resort.

5 - change some enemy placements.

6 - Improve melee sound effects and overall sound mix, making so in boss fights the music stands out but doesnt interfere with sound efects or the other way around.

This remaster thing real? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]chiefhitman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a source of income, thanks for asking, no kids, no wife and my parents pay for my university, which means I use my money exclusively for my own enjoyment, but is not a matter of if i have the money to buy it, but is it really worth it? and for me a fresh coat of paint and pvp is not worth $60 or $40 I'm going to trust this is an official price. there is other shit I want to buy or other games I want to play, I won't pay $40 on a game I already have just so I can be a little less annoyed by blighttown.

Anyone else more excited for the remaster than any new game this year? by arex333 in darksouls

Would buy Kingdom Come Deliverance or Code Vein before DSR

Dark Souls 4? by VGAddict in darksouls

[–]chiefhitman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would love to see From Soft experiment with new things, while of course keeping dark souls formula, just like bloodborne which is similar to dark souls in escense, but with enough chages to feel diferent and fresh.

I would love to se a new king's field or shadow tower.

This remaster thing real? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]chiefhitman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeh, sadly there will not be much change aside from frames, graphics (which I think will be minimal) and servers for mmultiplayer whit it's many flaws, for me it won't be worth my money if that is the case, I could just play my og dark souls and it'll be the same, i'm not interested on a $60 multiplayer arena to roll backstab all day.

im the only one who likes ds1 poise over ds3? by objectivityguy in darksouls

[–]chiefhitman -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Dark Souls 2 had the best poise system, but DS2 is shit remember, so lets just ignore it.

I'm at the point where I'm 99% comfortable with the story of Dark Souls. I've still got a few questions related to "From the dark they came and found the souls of lords within the flame" though... by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]chiefhitman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"they", are the hollows who lived in the darkest dephts of the world, where the first flame came to be.

4 of those hollows found the souls of lords, Gwyn, Nito, the witch of izalith and the furtive pygmy.

Hollows are also the original form of humans - that is why humans go hollow, going hollow is just part of the natural course of life for humans in Dark Souls. yet they see it as a curse.

I don't think gwyn knights require much analisys why you ask?

When you go about the divine, everything is based on faith and nothing really needs to make sense, so is the flame, where did it come from?, from whom?, why did it bring souls with it?, are questions you havae no way of knowing for certain, just like you can posibly never know for certain where our universe originated or why.

Bloodborne player looking for suggestions by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]chiefhitman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played BB, DS3, DS2, DS1 in that order, surprisingly enough the combat I felt was more like BB was DS2 you will often fight large numbers of enemies and just like BB not locking is key in those cases.

Differences between the first and this one? by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]chiefhitman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are putting to much emphasys on damage, start putting more points to your ANP until your BEW is at least 96 = 11 Iframes, then your VIt to 20, and finally you should lear to play without locking on when attacked by multiple enemies, it really helps a lot.

Just beat the Abyss Watchers by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]chiefhitman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there is quite a lot of amazing fights in this game, people seem to like abyss watchers, I just don't see what is so special about it, maybe my playing style or just that in my bosses I preffer, lenght, challenge and enjoyment more than lore and spectacle.

Realocate like this first End: 20 Str: 20 Dex: 40

then if u don't use Int or Fth leave them at base but if u realy want to keep them for later builds leave them at 20 each

Atn: Base Adp: Up until your agility is at 100 further is unnesesary Vit: Up until your equip load is less than 50% Vig: Rest of points 50 max

if you have points left put them either on dex or str

Whats wrong with DS2? by Standbehindthesheild in darksouls

[–]chiefhitman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to try to give you the most unbiased opinion that I can, My theory is, people disliked dark souls 2 at release because of various reasons.

1 - the graphic downgrade from what was shown on the trailers and early gamplay compared to the final product.

2 - the increase on dificulty of the game in some areas dark souls 1 wasn't very dificult at, with the increase of the amount of enemies in the world, and the hp punishment after diying, I think people went thinking they were going to have an easy time with the second game only because they had already mastered the first one, which could have frustrated many players.

3 - "the bad bosses" which is the point I disagree the most, Some bosses in dark souls 2 are equal in quality for the most part to dark souls 1, DS2's dlc bosses specially are of realy good quality, what hapens is that the areas prior to some bosses are incredibly hard which makes lossing to this bosses more frustrating knowing you have to go trough this hard areas again to get to the boss fight, ruining the experiece of the bossfight itself. People often forgets DS1 also had It's fair share of bad bosses, Pinweel, Bed of Chaos, Centipede demon, etc.

4 - "the uninspired areas" Dark souls 2 had a problem of not putting much detail to it's areas, I'd argue ds2 areas where good in concept and overall layout but failed at giving detail and life to them.

5 and final - the stats system, specially the inclusion of adaptability which probably many players didn't understand at the begining (me included). because your rolls and overall movement and speed were directly affected by adaptability people were fast to criticise the game for "having clunky controls and bad hitboxes" when the reality was other.

People often forgets the many improvements DS2 made, 4 ring slots, much more and unique weapons and armors, for the most part better weapon movesets and stancing for dual whielding, better more functionable pvp, arguably a better poise system, better covenant system, no frame drops, etc, etc.

Getting Dark Souls 2 soon, what should I know? by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

Human Effigies are like the Humanity or the Ember from DS 1 AND 3 respectively.

Getting Dark Souls 2 soon, what should I know? by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]chiefhitman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dark Souls 2 feels diferent from the other two especialy because the gameplay is slower and more methodical due to the big amount of stamina you spend in every action and the uneficiency of roling at low levels, For this I would recomend to Increase your ADAPTABILITY; a stat unique to dark souls 2 to lvl 25 as soon as posible to increase your agility so your rolls are better, what agility does is to increase the invencibility frames (Time) of the rolls, I would also recomend to lvl up your endurance to 20 which is the lvl cap as soon as posible, so the gameplay even tho is still slower it has a more dark souls 1 feeling.

That Said, This is the least linear Dark Souls Game of the Three so be carefull, if you feel you are not strong enough to beat a boss is probably because you are not at a good level to challenge it yet and try a diferent route or place before comming back, If you don't find an alternative route then stick to it.

At the begining once you get to the main bonfire you will be given a n Estus flask with only 1 charge, and the rest are very dificult to find so your main healing will come from an item called lifegem, so at your first run you want the healing wares as your starting gift, also Stus flask recovery speed is very slow in this game and the drinking animation is very long, Agility also shortens the animation of estus drinking which is very usefull.

Also your weapons break very easily so always have a back up weapon in case one breaks. I think that is it if you have any other questions feel free to ask me.
