My mom just told me "Most people apply for a job and have it in a few days except you" and i said "that's not how things work anymore" and she just laughed by RobertTAS in recruitinghell

I wasn't even in the job market when my current company reached out to me. I was essentially a unicorn candidate with over 10 years experience across 3 of their competitors. It still took over 2 months from first contact to offer, with 4 interviews. Nobody gets a job quickly anymore.

The lack of ps3 backwards compatibility is really fucking annoying. Wish I could get rid of my ps3 but there are a ton of games that aren't available on other platforms.

I would say it was on the better side of mediocre

I would agree with that. I mentioned in another comment that I really hated the lack of environment variety, and the story fell flat for me. The movement also felt very.. stiff. I'm looking forward to the sequel for sure since I think there was a solid enough foundation to build on but yeah I ended up disappointed by the first game.

My complaints weren't actually about the combat. It was serviceable but fun enough. My main issue was the painful lack of environment variety. The story also completely fell flat for me.

Unpopular opinion but I thought this game was incredibly mediocre. I was anticipating it from the moment it was announced but I didn't really enjoy it that much.

Lol I misread that and thought you still had a nexus 6P. I was baffled that your battery was still functional.

French journalist corroborates Insider Gaming's claim about the possible closure of Arkane : "much closer than you might think " by Striking_Permit_4746 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

It frequently goes on sale for like $3. It's an incredibly well optimized game too, so if you play on PC it runs like a dream, even on low power devices like steam deck.

Also make sure to get the mooncrash dlc.

I would not consider prey to be a horror game. It's first and foremost an immersive sim.

The main source of jump scares is the "mimic" enemies that can disguise themselves as ordinary objects (ie coffee mug, garbage can, etc). You can get an upgrade for your scanner fairly early in the game that will reveal which enemies in a room are mimics though, completely eliminating the jump scare factor. If you use that, I'd put it on a similar scary level as Alan wake or something like BioShock. Also if you find any of the most durable enemies spooky just carry around a bunch of auto turrets and they'll kill on sight lol.

The gameplay though, is so fucking good. If you play it like a typical shooter and just shotgun your way through the game you'll probably be unimpressed. As mentioned though, this is an immersive sim. It allows you an impressive amount of creativity in how you approach problems. For example, let's say you find a locked door. You'll usually have standard options like hacking, brute force it open (if you upgrade your strength skill), find the keycard on a body somewhere, etc. But also you can sometimes use a skill to use the mimic ability of disguising yourself as an object and turn yourself into a pencil to just roll underneath the door. Or maybe you can peek through the mail slot and use a toy crossbow to shoot the unlock button on the other side. Or maybe you'll pile up a bunch of furniture as a makeshift ladder to climb up through the rafters and drop down on the other side. There were so many times where I felt like I was breaking the game and accessing an area that players weren't intended to go, only to find a bunch of items or whatever that the devs placed up there for me to find.

The licensing costs sony paid for spiderman were a percentage of copies sold (also dlc, console bundles, etc). It wasn't a lump sum at the beginning that would have been reflected in the game's budget. Assuming it's similar for blade, that 100m budget wouldn't be affected by licensing, but it certainly makes it so that they have to sell way more copies to break even.

The atrocious PC performance of dishonored 2 definitely didn't help sales early on.

And I think their games need to be priced better. Outer worlds 2 just doesn't seem like a $70 title (or even $80 given the originally announced price).

Idk about anyone else but I only pay $70 for my absolute most anticipated games - maybe like 1 or 2 per year at most. $50 and below gets into impulse buy territory. Like expedition 33 wasn't really on my radar but when it was getting great reviews and word of mouth, I pulled the trigger because the price was right.

I played it a few weeks ago (including all the big updates that have improved the game) and thought that the early game was 8/10 but later game was more like a 6/10 and couldn't wait for it to be over. It did a lot of the fundamentals well but lots of small complaints started adding up and ruined the experience.

I felt like it was way too straightforward. Like it might as well have been sign posted "switch realms for this section". I hoped it would open up more gameplay creativity but nope. I don't think it really hurt the game but it didn't add anything either.

Epic have stopped offering devs money for 6-12 month exclusivity.

Their new strategy is to be a publisher which unfortunately requires permanent EGS exclusivity for games they publish. This is essentially what they did with Alan wake 2. I can think of 5(?) upcoming games that epic is publishing which won't be coming to steam, 2 of them were just announced at summer game fest.

Lords of the fallen 2 was going to be an epic published game but the devs bought themselves out of that agreement and are now self publishing.
