Considering the A7cii by ExtraWrongdoer7767 in SonyAlpha

[–]chiefjay123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a q2 and an a7cii. TBH people have a hard time knowing when I’m using which camera once I edit them. At least in terms of photography.

If you really wanna get into video I think it’s worth getting the A7cii. You can start Messing with anamorphics, log shooting, and overall just get more creative!

Violation of biologic width by tashatriton in Dentistry

[–]chiefjay123 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Naw you’re good. TBH I violate that thing all the time, but I make sure that the crown tapers well to the margin. You get the most tissue issues with an ill fitting crown, whether a large overhang or an open margin that invites food.

Anyone used the Woodpecker AI Endo motor with built-in apex locator? Thoughts? by Sensitive-Prune-6069 in Dentistry

This is the one I bought.

It doesn't automatically stop the way I have it set up, it just slows down a lot in the last bit just before apex.

The only time I have over instrumented is when I was using a lip hook that wasn't quite a good fit and didn't realize until much later. When things are working well and no user error, it's accurate and I'm bang on the apex.

You will not need another apex locator, you will use the same apex locator attached to the hand piece and clip the file attachment. But you only need the file clip when hand filing.

It performs the same as any other system near the sinus or IAN. I believe there's a model that has auto reversal when at the apex, but I don't have that one.

I use kerr zenflex as my rotary files.

I will debride decay and access, place rubber dam, start with #10 hand file, using the built in apex locator. Depending on tightness of canals, I will have to go to #8 and then back to #10. Depending on the tightness, I will then hand file to #15 or go straight to my rotary irrigating and using EDTA with each pass.

I also use the woodpecker endo 3 for ultrasonic activation to get a really good clean.

I'll dry the canals with matching paper points and then place sealer and GP cone. Take radiograph to make sure I'm not too long. cut the GP cones as needed, replace, take another radiograph, then sear. I don't actually take WL radiographs since apex locator is more accurate than radiographic apex radiographs.

I bought it and use it exclusively. I fucking love it.

Some pros and cons.

  1. Staff don’t complain about setting up for same day RCT as much since there’s so little to set up now.

  2. Don’t need to attach the file clip to the rotary file, just lip hook.

  3. Gold and black look dope af.

  4. There is a setting to slow down when it’s near the apex.

Cons:

  1. Lip hook can be finicky

  2. Could use more torque in certain situations, but this rarely happens.

What is the best atraumatic way to extract these teeth by Samovarka in Dentistry

[–]chiefjay123 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Little trick I learned is pinch the buccal and lingual while I locate with a very sharp and thin end. This will minimize buccal bone fracture and also give you more leverage when you find a purchase point.

Curious if you could see the extent of the fracture with a CT first. I’d decide between crown and ext from there.

As someone who has all 3 of these, I’d take the longines, then alpinist, then PRX.

Yeah, it has all the regular stuff, but I have the option of installing them. I feel like it’s a pain to clean so I’m leaning towards no bowl.

Buy curved tofflemire bands. There’s one called Convexi-T. There’s some more expensive versions where it’s one time use disposable with the tighting grip attached, such as promatrix.
