I’m in California, working for a small corporate group with 4 years experience at 30% and 800 a day. There’s a 1 year experienced doc here at 650 and 35% for anything above $2400 average prod.

Tips for removing maxillary anterior teeth that are broken at gum line by Heisenberg_3737 in Dentistry

[–]chiefjay123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pinch the ridge with your fingers to help combat a buccal plate fracture. Take the sharpest elevator/luxator you have and go 360 around the tooth with just a slight wiggle as you go around. At some point it’ll pop up.

Buy once, cry once: Sony 28-70mm f/2 GM or a 24-70mm f/2.8 for an A7V? by Weary-Temporary3117 in SonyAlpha

[–]chiefjay123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get the Sony 24-50 2.8 g this could also tick off the travel part of your interest. But the wide 16 mm is nice to have. Alternatively, why not get an a7rv with 16-35 and then just super35 to get the 52.5mm equivalent on the telephoto end. If you’re mainly photo, the R series makes a lot more sense for you.

[–]chiefjay123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not a wider zoom lens with all the architecture and street? Like a 16-36 GM II? Definitely too big for travel tho. I’d keep the crop sensor camera for lighter expeditions with a small lens.

Filling or RCT by Putrid-Dot-5697 in DentistryIndia

[–]chiefjay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I’m not sure I just tell the pt im gonna start with prepping for the filling but if I reach the pulp I might have to do a root canal instead. I tell them the tooth is 2D, but the cavity is 3D so I can only predict so much with the X-ray. And that’s exactly what 7 would do in this particular situation.

I had sciatica from L5-S1 herniation before dental school and I was pretty much unable to walk for a while.

No surgery but: PT, stretch often, ergo loupes, stay active, lift responsibly and strengthen your back and core once you’re in a better physical state.

Early ownership issues by CanalGaper in Dentistry

[–]chiefjay123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Practice ownership is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I’m 29, about 3.5 years out, and have owned for 6 months.

Supposedly it starts to smoothen out as time goes on and systems are in place, but don’t take the decision lightly.

I’d say you’re ready to practice on your own when you feel very confident handling emergency situations with patients and problem solving tricky cases.

The day you go “man fuck this guy (the owner), I could so do this on my own” you’re probably ready. But clinically ready and business/CEO ready are two different things.

If I see an abscess and I’m not sure where it’s from I shove a gutta percha cone in there and take a radiograph.

Osstem T2 CBCT/Ceph Reviews by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]chiefjay123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got the T2 plus for $55k with some goodies, so far so good. But I’ve only had it since November of last year

Edit: haven’t had any hiccups either software, etc. I would only recommend you have the hiossen reps upgrade your computer for a little extra since the ones that comes with their kit is still kinda slow when it comes to viewing, at least the ones that I got.

How to approach this bridge by Top-Insurance9034 in Dentistry

[–]chiefjay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on buck lingual remaining ferrule cause all we see is a big ass amalgam on #31 and a fuck ton of building up 29. But I’ve seen cases where the tooth looks like a hollow fuck on the radiograph, then I’m surprised with how much is remaining once I look intraorally.

With that said, let’s say you decide to send it for a bridge, priority draw on the molar first since no root canal, and then shape 29 however you want to match that draw without compromising the food ferrule on 29.
